Missy is a gentle, sweet senior girl who has been through so much in her life, and she’s now ready to find the loving home she deserves. At 10.5 years old, Missy spent over three years living in a kennel at a boarding facility after her owner became homeless. Thankfully, our rescue stepped up in October to save her, and while she’s doing well in our care, Missy would love to spend her golden years in a forever home where she can receive the love and attention she’s been missing for so long. Missy is a calm and affectionate girl who thrives in a home setting. She’s fully housetrained, enjoys playing with stuffed animals and balls, and will greet you with her beautiful smile once she feels comfortable with you. While she can be shy at first, Missy is quick to form strong bonds with her people and is a loyal companion. She gets along with dogs her size and is not reactive to others, but she would do best in a home without cats or small dogs. Missy knows basic commands like "sit," takes her food and treats gently, and rides well in the car. She enjoys leisurely walks and would thrive in a quiet home, ideally with no children, as she’s a bit timid around them. Missy truly deserves the warmth and love of a family that will cherish her. Could you be the one to give Missy the forever home she’s been waiting for? If you're interested in fostering or adopting this sweet girl, please reach out to us. Missy is ready to bring her love, loyalty, and companionship into your life.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 18, 2025, 6:49 pm

Story
Hi there, future family! My name is Lafonda, and oh boy, do I have a tail&#226&#128&#145wagging story to tell you. I’ve been waiting a long time to share it with the special humans who will someday call me their own. Maybe—just maybe—that’s you. I’m about four years old, which means I’ve got the perfect mix of youthful pep and grown&#226&#128&#145up charm. Back in June of 2025, I was picked up as a stray in Yuma. I don’t remember much about how I ended up on my own, but I do remember how relieved I was when kind people scooped me up and kept me safe. I spent some time at the pound there, dreaming of the day someone would walk in, point at me, and say, “That’s the one.” It didn’t happen then… but that’s okay, because my journey wasn’t over. Now I’m living my best temporary life at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, and let me tell you—I’m soaking up all the love, treats, and playtime I can get. Still, every night when I curl up to sleep, I imagine what it will feel like to finally have a forever home. A place where I can stretch out on a soft bed, chase toys across the yard, and follow my humans around like the loyal shadow I’m destined to be. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room—or rather, the bald spot on my head. Yep, I’ve got one! When I was found, I had a wound there, but it’s all healed up now. The hair just never grew back, so I rock a permanent little shiny patch. Personally, I think it adds character. Some dogs have fancy markings; I have a built&#226&#128&#145in conversation starter. It makes me unique, memorable, and honestly kind of adorable. I’m all up to date on my vaccinations, and I’ve been microchipped so I’ll never get lost again. That part is really important to me. After spending who&#226&#128&#145knows&#226&#128&#145how&#226&#128&#145long wandering alone, the idea of always being connected to my people feels like the warmest, safest hug. Now, let’s get to the fun stuff—my personality. If you’re looking for a couch potato, I’m probably not your girl. I’m an active, playful, goofy, boxer&#226&#128&#145mix bundle of energy. I love to run, jump, wiggle, and especially play fetch. Oh, fetch. My absolute favorite. Throw the ball once, and I’ll think you’re neat. Throw it twice, and I’ll think you’re amazing. Throw it three times, and I’ll love you forever. I adore people. Hanging out with humans is one of my top hobbies. Whether you’re relaxing, working in the yard, or just wandering around the house, I’m happiest when I’m part of the action. I’m loyal, affectionate, and always ready to brighten your day with a tail wag or a goofy grin. I do need to mention one thing: I’m not good with cats. I know, I know—they’re cute and fluffy, but something about them just gets me too excited. So a cat&#226&#128&#145free home would be best for everyone involved. If you’re looking for a dog who will bring joy, laughter, and endless enthusiasm into your life, I think we might be a perfect match. I’ve been waiting since last summer for my forever family to find me. Maybe you’re the one who will finally say, “Come on, Lafonda. Let’s go home.” If you’d like to meet me—and I really hope you do—please email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’ll be here, tail wagging, ready to greet you with all the love I’ve been saving up. PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
