Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Brutus—the Underdog Who Deserves His Happy Ending ❤️🐶
Brutus might be a tough match, but we know there’s someone out there who’s perfect for him — someone with patience, understanding, and a whole lot of love. Brutus has been with us since 2021, much longer than we hoped, but we’re not losing faith that his person is out there.
Brutus had a foster home, but their other dog didn’t appreciate his company. We tried again, placing him in a home, but their busy lifestyle was overwhelming for him. Brutus needs a calm, quiet spot where he can let down his guard and learn to trust at his own pace.
Adopting Brutus is a process. It means dating him first! You’ll come by the shelter, bring him treats, and slowly get to know him side by side. It might take weeks or even months for Brutus to feel comfortable, but we promise it’s worth it. His little teapot tail wiggle is pure happiness once he realizes you’re his person!
Brutus is healthy, active for his age, and would blossom with training from a professional who can guide him toward confidence. We’re looking for a patient, solitary person with a big heart — someone who’s willing to let him take the lead in becoming friends.
Brutus may be a needle in a haystack, but he’s a gem worth finding. Are you the one? ❤️✨

More about this rescue
The mission of Castoff Pet Rescue is to save and nurture homeless dogs; to match companion animals with loving, life-long homes; to foster responsible pet care; to control overpopulation in our community through spay/neuter programs; and to assist other shelters and rescue groups in any endeavor to benefit the animals. We believe that the same kindness, compassion, and generosity we extend to our two-legged neighbors should be given to our four-legged friends because they are not able to speak for themselves.
