Buddy Boy is smart, loyal, and deeply devoted to his people. Once you’re in his circle, you are IN. He’s house-trained, loves a good game of fetch, enjoys a swim, and will happily chew his way through an afternoon like it’s his full-time job.
Now for the real talk, because Buddy deserves honesty, not hype.
Buddy needs an adult-only home. Kids and teens stress him out, and when he feels unsure, he gets protective of his people and his space. That doesn’t make him “bad.” It makes him a dog who needs clear rules, structure, and humans who know what they’re doing.
The good news? With boundaries and consistency, Buddy absolutely shines. He’s been in foster care long-term and has done great with calm leadership and routine. This isn’t a huge ask. It’s just the right match. More real training and follow-through will make Buddy and his humans a solid team.

Visit us (by appointment only) at our physical location in Blairsville, GA 30512. Please e-mail us your contact info. and which pet you are interested in. We will happily arrange a meeting with that pet.
We also hold adoptions most Saturdays from 10-4 at the Alpharetta Petsmart. It is located across from the North Point Mall. Also Petco in Milton/Alpharetta. Please e-mail us for specific dates and locations. Not all pets at our shelter are at the adoption event. If you would like to see a certain pet at an event, e-mail us and let us know which one you are interested in.

The mission of Castoff Pet Rescue is to save and nurture homeless dogs; to match companion animals with loving, life-long homes; to foster responsible pet care; to control overpopulation in our community through spay/neuter programs; and to assist other shelters and rescue groups in any endeavor to benefit the animals. We believe that the same kindness, compassion, and generosity we extend to our two-legged neighbors should be given to our four-legged friends because they are not able to speak for themselves.
