My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy post Meet Thor (aka Casper) — A Sweet, Special Pup Looking for His Perfect Match! Thor is a loving, cuddly boy who is looking for a new home where he can thrive. Adopted last year through AAHA, Thor lives with two adults, two young kids, and a female dog, Marvel — and he adores his doggy sister and his people. ❤️ Thor is deaf, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit! He enjoys playing fetch, romping with other large dogs, and keeping an eye on the birds in the yard. Inside the home, he’s affectionate and loves to snuggle with his family. Thor would do best in a home: Without young children (older kids or an adult-only home would be ideal) With a secure yard and/or someone experienced with leash training With another friendly large dog — he enjoys canine companionship! Without cats (they’re not his favorite) While Thor is a sweet and loving companion at home, he does struggle with leash reactivity to people, dogs, motorcycles, and cars — so he needs an experienced and patient adopter to help him continue his training. He also needs a secure environment (he’s been known to Houdini his way out of vinyl fencing). If you think you might be the right match for this beautiful boy, we’d love to chat! His current family loves him dearly and is committed to finding the best home for him. Thor is fully vaccinated, healthy, and ready to find his perfect home! ✨

***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. But, we still want to help those dogs (and cats) on their journey! By courtesy posting, AAHA is offering our website/network as an additional resource to help an owner or shelter gain additional exposure for the dog they are trying to place. AAHA has not met nor evaluated the dog (or cat) we are courtesy posting. AAHA makes no representation about courtesy posted pets including the health and temperament and accepts no liability in this exchange. Arrangements for adoptions are made between the caretaker of the pet and the potential adopter.

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
