My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Max

Location: South Korea (available for international adoption through Adopt Korean Rescue)

Age: ~3 years old
Sex: Neutered Male
Breed: Jindo/Retriever Mix
Colour: Ivory
Weight: 19kg
Height: approx. 49cm (to shoulder)

Rescue Story:
Max was found wandering near a camping site in the countryside and taken to a local shelter where he was at risk of euthanasia. Thankfully, he was rescued just in time and is now waiting for his forever family

Personality:
Max is an affectionate and gentle boy who loves people — not only those he knows but also strangers. He approaches softly, leans in for pets, and enjoys being hugged
He’s amazing with children under 13, showing calm and patient behaviour.

He rarely barks (only when he really wants something!) and enjoys outdoor activities but settles quietly afterward.

With Other Dogs:
Max greets other dogs politely and gets along well with dogs of all sizes — big, medium, or small. Even if another dog barks or provokes him, he usually walks away calmly.
He’s more of an observer than a rough player, but he enjoys being part of the group

With Cats:
He has been living with a cat in his foster home. At first, he got excited, but after consistent guidance from his foster, his reactions have improved a lot.

Leash & Training:
Max enjoys walks and tends to pull a little at first, but once he’s had enough exercise, he walks nicely beside his person.
He prefers outdoor potty and is very food-motivated — smart enough to remember people who’ve given him treats or kindness (even his vet!).

Other Notes:
He’s a bit scared of car rides, so he prefers being lifted into the car.
After outdoor fun, he’s calm, relaxed, and happy to rest by your side

Max is a gentle, loyal, and easygoing companion who will thrive in a loving home that enjoys walks, nature, and quiet evenings together.

If you’re looking for a kind-hearted dog who will fill your days with calm affection and love — Max is waiting for you

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.
