My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I’m Lulu, a 62-pound bundle of love, strength, and tail wags, and I’ve got a story to tell.
Life threw me a curveball recently, I’m currently healing from a broken leg. But don’t feel sorry for me… I haven’t let it dim my spirit for one second. I still light up when I see my people, still wag my tail like crazy, and still believe the best is yet to come.

I’m 4 years old and full of heart. I’m not just looking for a place to stay, I’m looking for a home that sees me. One that understands I’ve been through some tough stuff, and I might need a little time and care as I heal, physically and emotionally. But trust me: I’m worth it.

I do best in a home that respects my boundaries, gives me time to build trust, and is patient with my recovery. I’m gentle, loyal, and incredibly loving once I know you’re my safe person. I’m not just a good girl, I’m your girl, if you’ll give me the chance.

I’ve been waiting for a family that gets me. Maybe that’s you?

More about this shelter

The Oahu SPCA was founded in April of 2009 and launched its mission, "Every healthy, treatable animal will find a forever home." The overwhelming support of community members was instrumental in helping to establish the first animal shelter in the state of Hawaii with a "no-kill philosophy." On July 18, 2009, 432 animals were relinquished to the Oahu SPCA the Largest Animal Rescue in the history of Hawaii. The Oahu SPCA rescued all 432 animals in 48 hours after the owner of an animal sanctuary in Waianae passes away.
