My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

No cat is perfect, but Hemlock is pretty darn close! Hemlock is the sweetest six-year-old boy, who was friendly from the moment he stepped out of his carrier into his foster home. You can pick him up, cuddle him, or let him hang out on your lap—he’s happy with all of it. He loves mealtime and treats, especially those famous tube treats, and will even try to sneak the dog’s food if given the chance. Hemlock is calm and relaxed, but will happily play with toys when the mood strikes. Hoodie strings and dangly jewellery always catch his attention, so keep an eye on those! Hemlock loves to snooze anywhere comfy; the designated cat chair, the back of the couch, your lap… wherever you are, he’ll likely be right there too. He enjoys following his people around the house and will even come when called, responding with the cutest little squeaky purr you’ve ever heard. He uses his scratching post and litter box like a champ and doesn’t mind having his nails trimmed. With his longer fur, regular brushing is needed to keep him looking his best. Hemlock does well with other cats and dogs, but he’d also be perfectly happy as the only cat in a home where someone is around often to keep him company.

Hemlock was found abandoned along a trail with several other cats. Thankfully, he was one of the lucky ones who was trapped and received a full vet exam before heading into foster care. Despite his rough start, he remains incredibly affectionate and sweet, and is more than ready to continue his journey in his forever home at last.

If you’re looking for a loving, easy-going, almost perfect, companion who truly wants to be part of your everyday life, Hemlock might just be your perfect match.

As we often receive numerous applications for each cat or kitten, we will only contact applicants who best suit the needs of the cat or kitten. For example, if it is stipulated that the cat needs another cat buddy at home and you do not have one, you may not receive a response. Finding the best home for our cat or kitten is our top priority. Applications are not first-come, first-served.

More about this rescue

Home at Last Rescue (HALR) is a Registered Canadian Charity, that is 100% volunteer driven. Our goal is to rescue cats from substandard living conditions and give them the loving homes they deserve.

We provide medical care, emotional support and a loving environment while preparing them to find their forever homes. With no physical location, all of our cats and kittens reside in loving foster homes across the Greater Toronto Area until they are ready for adoption.

We receive no government funding and rely solely on adoption fees, donations and our fundraising efforts to support our initiatives. We believe there is a home for every cat and a cat for every home.
