My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lion is a handsome male kitten who was brought to the HSOV on September 19, 2025 with his four siblings (Crocodile, Giraffe, Hyena, and Toucan) and his mother (Safari). Lion and his brothers/sisters were tiny 5-week old babies at that time. This little family was found on Second Street in Marietta Ohio, so we were thankful that Safari could raise her kittens in a safe environment instead of near a busy street. Lion weighed 1.2 lbs when he entered our shelter.

Lion has an orange tabby short smooth coat, a long ringed tail, and an adorable chubby face with gold/bronze eyes, a pink nose, and long white whiskers.

This little sweetheart is full of playful kitten energy and loves to romp/play with his brothers and sisters. The kittens were separated from their mother in mid-November after they were fully weaned, and they have been enjoying fun-and-games to their heart's content in one of our larger cages. Sadly their little sister Crocodile did not survive and passed away on November 25th.

Lion was given vaccinations and Drontal wormer on October 22nd. He was given booster vaccines on November 6th and November 22th 2025. Lion weighed 2.4 lbs on November 22nd.

These photos of Lion were taken on January 10, 2026 when HSOV kennel techs Lauryn Hamilton, Madison Lee, and Hannah McClain spent time with Lion and his siblings for their photo session. Lion was quite the entertainer and was a pleasure to photograph while he posed beautifully with potted plants and played with catnip pillows.

Lion will be neutered (tentatively in February 2026) and will soon be ready to find a fabulous home of his very own.
