My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Spud and here is a little more about me:

My Journey
I come from a colony/community cat background and am learning all about the comforts of indoor life. Each day, I grow more confident and curious as I settle into a safe, loving environment and discover how cozy home life can be.

My Social Life
Other cats ? I do wonderfully with my sister, Tina—we provide a lot of comfort for each other, especially in new places. Once I realize other cats are friendly and won’t hurt me, I adjust quickly. In fact, within a day of meeting my foster feline friends, I was already playing comfortably with them.
Dogs ? I’m not sure yet how I feel about a canine friend
Kids ? I have never met any mini human and may appreciate a their company after some time

My Personality
I’m a bit of a laid-back kitten with a curious streak. I enjoy investigating new spaces and toys at my own pace. I can be a little needy in the sweetest way—I’ll chirp around the house if I can’t find you or my sister, just to check in. While I may come across as relaxed, I’m still observant, affectionate, and quietly engaged with the world around me.

I Enjoy…
Automatic wand teaser toys (they keep me entertained forever!)
Following sunbeams around the house to find the coziest nap spots
Wrestling with my sister Tina and playfully attacking feet under blankets
Churu treats (a guaranteed favorite)

I’m Not a Fan Of…
Loud or sudden noises can still be a bit overwhelming for me—I’m continuing to adjust to indoor life and the big humans that come with it.

What Makes Me Special
I have an incredibly soft coat and a perfectly classic orange tabby look. When I nap, I tend to go completely floppy, which is both endearing and hilarious. My gentle, sweet demeanor makes me a lovely companion and a comforting presence in any home.

My Perfect Home
My ideal home would be one where I can stay with my sister Tina—we cuddle all day and mix in plenty of playtime. A home with another friendly cat could also work well. Since I’m still young, I may warm up to children and possibly dogs, as long as they respect my boundaries and give me time to feel safe.

Young kittens are adopted in pairs or to a home with another playful kitty.

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
