My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Dequindre!

I’m a 5-month-old silver tabby with a big heart and an even bigger purr. My mom brought my siblings and me to a safe patio when we were tiny, and once we realized how great people and indoor life were, we kind of… let ourselves in. The door stayed open in case we wanted to leave, but we never did — we decided we were home.

My foster family calls me “Lovey Dovey All the Time,” and honestly, it fits. I love cuddling with my sisters and my humans, and I’m a proud lap kitty. I’m also in a very serious competition with one of my sisters for the title of loudest purr in the house. When I’m not snuggling, I enjoy playing fetch with my toss toys and absolutely anything with feathers.

I get along great with other cats and am curious about the adult cats in my foster home. I’d love to be adopted with one of my siblings or into a home with another friendly cat. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, playful companion who will happily purr you into submission, I’m your guy.

Dequindre is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting him, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Adoption fees are as follows: $175 for a single cat or kitten, $225 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

Additional adoption info

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
