Alright, folks, meet Gwendolynn — she is your emotional support sunshine wrapped in fur.
Gwendolynn is the kind of happy-go-lucky soul who is sweet, social, wildly affectionate, and just enough of a goofball to keep things interesting. She is the kind of dog who assumes every human she meets has been waiting all day just to see her. Stranger? Best friend. Acquaintance? Soulmate. Mail carrier? Obviously, they're there for her. She moves through life like a golden retriever in disguise, convinced that love is infinite, attention is mandatory, and everyone should be petting her at all times, preferably with both hands.
Gwendolynn is a 2-year-old, 54-lb female Great Pyrenees mix who somehow landed in the absolute worst place for a dog whose entire personality is “please love me immediately.” She was surrendered to a loud, chaotic shelter. From the very beginning, she was one of those dogs — the ones you keep circling back to, the ones you say, “Surely she’ll get adopted,” because obviously she’s perfect and the universe has eyes. Except… the universe blinked. She went urgent. We stepped in to tag her. Then — plot twist — a family adopted her right before we could. Great! Love that for her! We moved on to another dog in crisis, assuming Gwendolynn was living her best couch-dog life. Except nope. The adoption never actually happened. The follow-through vanished. And there she was — still in the shelter, still waiting, still very much in need. So yes, this is one of those “meant to be” cases. The universe tried to shuffle her story around a few times, but she circled right back to us — because clearly the plan all along was for this happy-go-lucky, sunshine-powered, attention-loving goofball to land somewhere she’d be seen, celebrated, and finally chosen the way she deserves....and soon becoming the sunshine to your day! ;)
Gwendolynn’s social calendar is wide open and she would like you to know she is accepting all playdates. Other dogs? Absolutely yes. She’s submissive on first meetings, reads the room, and then decides it’s time to have fun. With her Shepsky buddy Rollo? Besties. Ride-or-die. Once she settles in, she’s all wagging tail, big smiles, and “who’s ready to play next?” Also, BALL IS LIFE for this girl just as a little heads up. Cats? She’s not living with any right now, but personality-wise she’s basically a large puppy in a grown-dog body. No malice, no vendettas—just enthusiasm. The kind that says, “Hi! What are you? Can we be friends? Do you throw balls?” Kids? She hasn’t been around them in her foster home, but let’s be realistic. She loves everyone. That said, her joy is… physical. Smaller kids may get accidentally toppled by sheer happiness and an overachieving tail. Older kids who can throw a ball and don’t mind a very close personal assistant will become her favorite people immediately. Bonus points if snacks are involved, because Gwendolynn is extremely food-motivated and absolutely willing to enter into a lifelong friendship in exchange for a goldfish cracker. New people? There is no “stranger danger” here. Gwendolynn assumes every human exists solely to love her, and honestly, she’s not wrong. She wants pets, affection, validation, and maybe your phone number so she can check in later. She is sunshine, wrapped in fur, with absolutely no concept of personal boundaries.
On the energy scale, Gwendolynn clocks in at a solid 7 — enough pep to keep life fun, but not so much that she’s ricocheting off the walls like a caffeinated toddler. She’s got stamina, enthusiasm, and the ability to power down when the day is done. Car rides? She hops in like a seasoned road-trip professional and immediately assumes the role of quiet co-pilot. On leash, she’s shockingly polite for a big, happy Pyrenees mix. She’s working on perfecting that “walk nicely at my side” look, but there’s no dragging you down the street or pretending she’s a sled dog. She’s cooperative. Reasonable. Adventure or couch potato? Yes. She will absolutely cuddle up on the couch like she was born there… and then also happily join you for a morning jog or long hike without blinking. She’s the kind of dog who says, “What are we doing today?” and is genuinely down for whatever you say. Temperament-wise, she’s a full-on social butterfly who assumes everyone is her best friend and honestly expects to be treated as such. She is sunshine in dog form — happy, affectionate, attention-loving, and just goofy enough to keep things entertaining without tipping into nonsense. Water play remains a mystery because winter said “absolutely not,” but toys? Yes. Big fan. Throw the ball and you will immediately be promoted to Favorite Person. Living situation-wise, a fenced yard would be lovely, but she’s flexible. Apartment life could work just fine if you’re active and committed to daily ball time. Play with her every day and she will consider you the love of her life. And yes — she knows her commands. Sit, down, wait, stay, come. She’s not just pretty and friendly; she’s also got some brains tucked in there, just waiting to impress the right person.
Now that we’ve established Gwendolynn is emotionally available, socially fearless, and fully convinced she belongs everywhere you are, let’s talk about house manners. Potty trained? Yes. Kennel life? She’s completely fine with it. Chewing? She is still kind of a puppy, which means if you leave her unattended with questionable objects, she may investigate them with her mouth. This is not malicious. This is curiosity paired with optimism. Supervision solves it. Barking is minimal. She’s more of a casual commentator than a loudmouth — offering the occasional opinion without turning it into a full TED Talk.
So anyway — if you’re in the market for a dog who is sunshine with a pulse , you must fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it to her foster family. No app, no magic, no Gwendolynn. That’s just how it works. Once approved, you’ll need to pick her up in Oklahoma City — she does not deliver herself, no matter how confident she may seem.
Fill out the app. Do the thing. Come get the dog.
Gwendolynn is ready to be someone’s whole heart — she just needs you to handle the paperwork like a grown-up.
