Story
Sabrina’s Story:  Neighbors watched Sabrina and worried about her. She was sitting patiently in the driveway waiting for her people to come home. But the neighbors knew that the people had moved away and left Sabrina behind and so they reached out to us. As if that wasn't bad enough, Sabrina wasn't moving properly, and when we took her to see our vet, we found out that she had multiple  fractures of her pelvis! Today Sabrina is doing very well in her foster home. She has been on a program of careful rest and monitored activities and her fractures are healing well. She still has a way to go, but would like to complete her rehab in a home of her own. Help A Dog Smile will continue to cover all necessary medical expenses at her current vet practice. Sabrina has beautiful manners, she is house trained using a doggie door, possibly without one as well. She eats her food nicely and gets along great with the other foster dogs. She is leash trained and enjoys a quiet walk, but is terrified of traffic. It's possible that her pelvis was fractured due to being hit by a car. Sabrina would do well in almost any home. She attaches herself quickly to her humans and is very gentle and undemanding. She has not been around cats or small children but would probably do well. It's important for her continued healing that she not jump or play hard. She is happy to spend her day lying at your feet or curled up in her bed  Sabrina is estimated to be 5-6 years old, and is looking forward to meeting you. Adoption Requirements : Sabrina’s adoption fee is $350. If you think Sabrina is the dog for you please review the following adoption requirements.   Must live in the Phoenix metro area Must have a securely fenced yard Must be willing to work with Help A Dog Smile Rescue on Sabrina’s rehabilitation from a fractured pelvis.  Help A Dog Smile will continue to cover all necessary medical expenses from the fracture at her current vet practice. If you are interested in Sabrina please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  May 28, 2025, 1:41 pm

Story
Meet Hank! Hank was found as a stray and turned into our local animal shelter. Poor guy was so scared he had to be carried into the shelter. Unfortunalty for Hank he had a heart murmur. The shelter doesn't keep dogs with this level of medical needs. He has been to the cardiologist and received the all clear. He does have a murmur (grade 3) but it is common with dogs (just like people) to have a leaky valve. Hank is a love bug! He loves to go for walks. He prefers hanging out inside with his dog friends. He isn't to keen on sleeping in a kennel, he likes the be on his own bed. He REALLY likes to snuggle up on his persons bed if he can. He does get nervous/shy when things get chaotic. He would do best in a home with older (12 and up) or no kids. It's not that he doesn't like them. They are just fast movers and can be loud. He is looking for a place to live out his senior years and enjoy life! If you are interested in meeting Hank, please fill out our application https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAWP/Dog Hank is approximately 8 years old and 28 pounds, He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and has had an echocardiogram.
