Story
I adopted Brisbane from the Maricopa shelter. He was a homeless dog. He’s been so wonderful since adopting him. He knows how to sit and go to bed. He’ll lay with you. He does shed and loves to play fetch. I live in a two bedroom apartment and lately have not been able to keep up with his needs. I also lost my job, so I cannot take care of him appropriately. He needs a loving home with company. He is about 3 years old now.

Story
ELLIE & JAXSON ❤️💚 A sweet 8-year-old pair whose owner passed away is looking for their together-forever family. Some good friends of the owner (who cannot keep the dogs) took them in to help, with hopes of finding them a home. They have reached out for help. Ellie is about 25 pounds and Jaxson is 45 pounds. They are both sturdy low riders 😃 and somewhat long for their height, looking exceptionally cute as they run through the yard. Both are great with people and would like family members who are patient and like to snuggle. We really don't know their breed / mix, but they sure are cute. These two love to cuddle together, romp and play together, and sleep together -- they are truly best friends. Jaxson is a bit timid and whimpers at new things in his life, and he looks to Ellie for his confidence and reassurance. His new family should have a little patience to help him feel comfortable as he encounters new situations and sounds in his life. Due to this, probably no little kids who move fast and make startling sounds that will scare him. He wants to live a playful yet relaxed life with you and his BFF. These pups know their basic commands, sit and stay, but the temporary keepers say .. they're not the brightest, so don't be looking to teach them tricks 😃 They are just happy goofy fun-loving, gentle, affectionate dogs who want to be loved and kept safe. We can set up a meet & greet upon approved application. Please email to request one

Story
Lilith is a calm, affectionate Bassett rescued years ago. We’re rehoming her due to our baby’s allergies. She bonds deeply with humans and enjoys leisurely walks. Good with other dogs and children; no experience with cats. Fully house/crate-trained. Has dental issues causing occasional bad breath, managed with dental bones and professional cleanings. Spayed but may need vaccine updates. Lilith needs a quiet home with a fenced yard. Shows mild resource guarding with food (no incidents) and may howl briefly (2-3 minutes) when first left alone. Perfect for seniors or families with children. She just needs someone patient to offer this sweet hound comfortable retirement years with gentle walks and warm cuddles. (Note: Photos are older. Same size but more gray fur now.)

Story
Sabrina’s Story:  Neighbors watched Sabrina and worried about her. She was sitting patiently in the driveway waiting for her people to come home. But the neighbors knew that the people had moved away and left Sabrina behind and so they reached out to us. As if that wasn't bad enough, Sabrina wasn't moving properly, and when we took her to see our vet, we found out that she had multiple  fractures of her pelvis! Today Sabrina is doing very well in her foster home. She has been on a program of careful rest and monitored activities and her fractures are healing well. She still has a way to go, but would like to complete her rehab in a home of her own. Help A Dog Smile will continue to cover all necessary medical expenses at her current vet practice. Sabrina has beautiful manners, she is house trained using a doggie door, possibly without one as well. She eats her food nicely and gets along great with the other foster dogs. She is leash trained and enjoys a quiet walk, but is terrified of traffic. It's possible that her pelvis was fractured due to being hit by a car. Sabrina would do well in almost any home. She attaches herself quickly to her humans and is very gentle and undemanding. She has not been around cats or small children but would probably do well. It's important for her continued healing that she not jump or play hard. She is happy to spend her day lying at your feet or curled up in her bed  Sabrina is estimated to be 5-6 years old, and is looking forward to meeting you. Adoption Requirements : Sabrina’s adoption fee is $350. If you think Sabrina is the dog for you please review the following adoption requirements.   Must live in the Phoenix metro area Must have a securely fenced yard Must be willing to work with Help A Dog Smile Rescue on Sabrina’s rehabilitation from a fractured pelvis.  Help A Dog Smile will continue to cover all necessary medical expenses from the fracture at her current vet practice. If you are interested in Sabrina please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  May 7, 2025, 12:52 am
