Story
CoolWhip is about 12 weeks old and ready for a home to call her very own! This little snuggle bunny enjoys playing with other puppies and LOVES to meet nice humans. She'll be the perfect addtition to any loving home. This puppy Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! Story
Glady is about a year old and is ready to get started on her brand new life with a brand new family who would never dream in a million years of dumping her off in the country to fend for herself. However, if she could talk, we have a feeling that is exactly the story she would tell us. Onne of our foster families happened to see her wandering around looking confused and lost. They pulled up, opened the car door, she hopped in like she belonged there and off they went. They have had a for a couple of weeks to make sure she's a good girl, and they have reported she's a good girl unless you're of the feline variety. If you have kitties, they are NOT going to be pleased with the adoption of Gladys, but if you have other dogs and/or human kiddos, they'll be pleased as punch with this lovely girl. There's a lot of love and joy packed into Gladys' 45 lb-ish body. She's housebroken, nice on leash, nice medium energy level....she'll fit in with any loving family (without kitties). Apply to adopt Gladys at www.cprdogs.com. Gladys is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. Story
Meet Ophelia! Also known as Ophe or Ophie Loafie This fabulous gal is about 7 years old and 55 pounds of wrinkles, droop, and pure Basset attitude. Ophelia is sweet as can be and gets along great with cats, dogs, and even tiny humans (toddlers included!). She is an absolute love… with just the right amount of Basset naughtiness to keep things interesting. Let’s talk food because Ophelia definitely does. Plain kibble? Rude. She prefers her meals upgraded with wet food or, better yet, whatever her human is eating. She has standards, okay? Ophelia came to Real Dog Rescue needing some serious TLC. She arrived with a large cyst on her neck, infected ears, was very dirty, and was not spayed. Since then, she’s seen our amazing vets, enjoyed a spa day (or two), and is fully embracing the foster-life luxuries she always deserved. Her foster mom is helping her fine-tune her house manners—she has the occasional accident, but she’s trying her best and improving with consistency and patience. If you’re looking for a wrinkly, food-loving, slow-moving cuddle queen with a heart of gold, Ophelia is ready to loaf her way into your life 💕🐶 Ophelia is heartworm positive. We will be covering the cost of her treatment with our trusted vets. She will also be spayed soon. Apply at realdogrescue.org/adopt

Story
Little Girl is ready to meet her forever family! Behind that adorable face lies a horrific past. Part of another unwanted/unneeded litter Little Girl suffered a fate chosen by the human. From birth to about 7 months old she was living in a rabbit hutch with her mom, siblings and whatever other relatives she may have had. Little Girl was born into a family purely bred to hunt which meant they were treated as possessions not pups, fed little amounts to increase their hunting drive, and kept in rabbit hutches outside to prevent them from running. Every so often the shelter receives a batch of Beagles from this residence, and this time Little Girl was lucky enough to be one of the pups to get “downsized”. We can’t be sure, but we think one of the reasons she was chosen to be surrendered is because of her bowed legs and odd gait. Ironically this is due to poor nutrition, living in a space that is too small while growing, and bad genetics. All faults of the human that had surrendered her. At 8 months old there is little that can be done to help this condition but Little Girl was put on a supplement and given exercises to help correct some of the bowing. Besides looking a bit unusual her bowed legs really do not have an impact on her quality of life. Little Girl still loves to play with her doggy friends and cuddle up with the kiddos at night. Due to the lack of human contact the first 7 months of life Little Girl takes time to warm up to humans. She still cowers and sometimes runs when someone tries to pet her. She is her happiest amongst canine companions and the kiddos. Little Girl is still working on mastering her basic puppy skills of house, crate and leash training. She is looking for a patient understanding family that will give her time to warm up and gradually build a bond. If you think you could be that family email Jonesm4318@gmail.com

Story
This pint size pup is ready to steal your heart just in time for Valentine’s Day! BJ is a 7 month old Beagle puppy who went from living outside in a rabbit cage to living her best life ever. Her entire life had been surrounded by 4 splintered wood walls, some chicken wire, and a cramped space she shared with numerous other Beagles. Only escaping this environment when she was sent out to hunt. Fortunately BJ was not a top notch hunter and for that she was surrendered to the shelter. When BJ entered her foster home she was literally entering a world so brand new. Walking inside of a house was unfamiliar but greatly welcomed due to the frigid temperatures outdoors. Having an entire house must have felt like a mansion compared to her last living space. It was there she discovered her new found love of toys. This girl had never seen a toy in her life and it was love at first sight. Although she has built confidence throughout her foster stay BJ has always gravitated towards the kiddos. Maybe it’s because shes so tiny and kiddos are less intimidating. BJ is only 15lbs and most likely will not be over 20lbs full grown. The more she comes out of her shell the more her playful puppy personality shines. BJ has been great with her crate training and really catching onto house training when on a strict schedule. This girl may be 7 months old, but it is important that her forever family understands she had no training for those first 6 months of life so it is very much like starting with an 8 week old puppy. BJ’s foster family has started building a foundation of training skills that her forever family will need to build on. If you think BJ could be your forever Valentine email Jonesm4318@gmail.com today!
