Story
(DOB 11/01/2018) Charlie, the bundle of fun and energy that’s ready to bring joy to any home! This playful guy is all about having a good time whether it’s running through the sprinkler on a hot summer day or chasing leaves in the back yard in the fall!  Charlie’s also super smart and knows a lot of commands, making him an eager learner. His cuddles are top-notch, and he’s a master of giving sweet, gentle kisses and deep, loving stares right into your eyes. He’d thrive in a home with a yard, or with an active family who’ll keep him moving if they live in an apartment. He’d make an excellent addition to a family with one or two other dogs, though he’d be just as happy being your one-and-only best buddy. We think he'd do great with kids, too! Charlie is playful, loving, and just plain fun—if you’re looking for a happy, energetic companion, he’s your guy! Charlie has a big personality in a compact size (~40lbs), especially when it comes to his interest in those other furries called cats! If he spots a cat, he’s very interested in giving chase, so be aware when you are out and about. He is also still mastering walking on a leash and still pulls but  working on it. Charlie sleeps in his kennel, and he has a nice cushy bed which he doesn't chew. If you have a fence yard and you let Charlie out to romp, run around, play and goof off, know he loves to dig. Keep him busy otherwise he could get into some mishchief. After a long and lovely romp, he likes to chill out in a big, comfy bed on his cot. Are you looking for a guy just like Charlie? Then get your application submitted! As part of Charlie’s $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Charlie, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2239684##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Lucy – A Gentle 9Year-Old Basset Hound–Terrier Mix  Lucy is a shy, timid, and incredibly sweet 9-year-old Basset Hound–Terrier mix who arrived at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue after her owner entered hospice care. She and her brother, Ricky, spent their entire lives together, but sadly, not in a safe or loving environment. The family openly admitted that both dogs were hit throughout their lives as a form of discipline—and that no one ever stepped in to stop the abuse. They were surrendered when their owner entered hospice.  To make matters worse, not a single family member, including the owner’s husband, was willing to take them in. When they were surrendered, the family assured us the dogs were up to date on their shots, but we quickly discovered they had not seen a veterinarian in more than three years. Both arrived with severe dental disease, and Lucy was additionally diagnosed with a heart murmur. Now safe at Rainbow Bridge, Lucy is slowly learning that gentle hands and kind voices exist, and that she finally deserves the comfort and compassion she was always denied. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143  Ricky has been adopted byt sadly, Lucy still waits for her furever home. Lucy is the quieter, she is timid and flinches when you raise your hand to pet her. She’s gentle, calm, and enjoys spending her days lounging in soft blankets or quietly following her foster mom around the house. Life has recently changed a lot for her, and she’s still learning to trust and feel secure again. With patience, kindness, and love, Lucy’s sweet personality continues to blossom a little more every day.  She is potty trained but does occasionally have accidents.   Adoption Fee  $300 tps://rainbowbridgerescue.org/adopt/  Application must be completed Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 15, 2026, 10:15 am

Story
Check out our Facebook page for more pics! Bruno is a 5-year-old sweetheart who is quickly winning over everyone he meets. After recently returning to our rescue through no fault of his own (owner was widowed and unable to care for him on her own), this handsome boy is adjusting beautifully in foster care and showing us every day what an amazing companion he is. Bruno is the kind of dog who just wants to be part of the family. He loves people, enjoys spending time with other dogs, and absolutely lights up when it’s time for a car ride. Whether he’s exploring the yard, going for walks, or soaking up attention from his foster family, Bruno is happiest when he’s near his humans. His foster family says he has been an absolute joy to have back in their home again. He’s house trained, crate trained, walks great on a leash, and settles in nicely to daily routines. Bruno has also done wonderfully with the teenagers in the home (who were 9 years old the first time Bruno was there in 2022) and other dogs in his foster home. He has not yet been around cats while in our care, so we do not currently know how he would do with them. Even though Bruno was up-to-date on his vetting when he was returned, as always we took him to one of our 11 vet partners for a thorough exam. In addition to his wellness exam, Bruno had a heartworm test which also tests for other tick borne diseases and parasite screening. All negative, good news. We also had the vet administer the Lyme and Lepto vaccines. Bruno is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his rabies and distemper parvo vaccines. One thing we’re especially happy about is that Bruno has already started gaining back some much-needed weight since returning to rescue. When he came back to us, he was about 9 pounds under the healthy weight he was when originally adopted four years ago. (40-43 lbs). His foster family has been helping him safely regain weight with high-quality nutrition and multiple smaller meals throughout the day, and he’s already looking and feeling better. Even after his world was turned upside down, Bruno continues to greet life with a wagging tail and a sweet spirit. Like many dogs going through a major life change, he can occasionally feel a little anxious, but he’s settling in more every day as he realizes he is safe and loved. We’ve also sent off a DNA test just for fun because honestly, your guess is as good as ours on his breed mix! But we feel confident he has a good bit of basset hound. We can’t wait to find out in a couple weeks. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will happily ride shotgun on adventures and curl up nearby at the end of the day, Bruno may be your perfect match.
