Story
(DOB 11/01/2018) Charlie, the bundle of fun and energy that’s ready to bring joy to any home! This playful guy is all about having a good time whether it’s running through the sprinkler on a hot summer day or chasing leaves in the back yard in the fall!  Charlie’s also super smart and knows a lot of commands, making him an eager learner. His cuddles are top-notch, and he’s a master of giving sweet, gentle kisses and deep, loving stares right into your eyes. He’d thrive in a home with a yard, or with an active family who’ll keep him moving if they live in an apartment. He’d make an excellent addition to a family with one or two other dogs, though he’d be just as happy being your one-and-only best buddy. We think he'd do great with kids, too! Charlie is playful, loving, and just plain fun—if you’re looking for a happy, energetic companion, he’s your guy! Charlie has a big personality in a compact size (~40lbs), especially when it comes to his interest in those other furries called cats! If he spots a cat, he’s very interested in giving chase, so be aware when you are out and about. He is also still mastering walking on a leash and still pulls but  working on it. Charlie sleeps in his kennel, and he has a nice cushy bed which he doesn't chew. If you have a fence yard and you let Charlie out to romp, run around, play and goof off, know he loves to dig. Keep him busy otherwise he could get into some mishchief. After a long and lovely romp, he likes to chill out in a big, comfy bed on his cot. Are you looking for a guy just like Charlie? Then get your application submitted! As part of Charlie’s $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Charlie, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2239684##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Lucy – A Gentle 9Year-Old Basset Hound–Terrier Mix  Lucy is a shy, timid, and incredibly sweet 9-year-old Basset Hound–Terrier mix who arrived at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue after her owner entered hospice care. She and her brother, Ricky, spent their entire lives together, but sadly, not in a safe or loving environment. The family openly admitted that both dogs were hit throughout their lives as a form of discipline—and that no one ever stepped in to stop the abuse. They were surrendered when their owner entered hospice.  To make matters worse, not a single family member, including the owner’s husband, was willing to take them in. When they were surrendered, the family assured us the dogs were up to date on their shots, but we quickly discovered they had not seen a veterinarian in more than three years. Both arrived with severe dental disease, and Lucy was additionally diagnosed with a heart murmur. Now safe at Rainbow Bridge, Lucy is slowly learning that gentle hands and kind voices exist, and that she finally deserves the comfort and compassion she was always denied. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Lucy is the quieter of the pair, she is timid and flinches when you raise your hand to pet her. She’s gentle, calm, and enjoys spending her days lounging in soft blankets or quietly following her foster mom around the house. Life has recently changed a lot for her, and she’s still learning to trust and feel secure again. With patience, kindness, and love, Lucy’s sweet personality continues to blossom a little more every day.  She is potty trained but does occasionally have accidents.   Adoption Fee  $300 tps://rainbowbridgerescue.org/adopt/  Application must be completed Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2025, 6:10 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ricky A 14-year-old Basset Hound–Terrier mix who recently came to Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue after his owner passed away and none of the family would take him.  He arrived with Lucy and these two sweet souls have spent their entire lives together.  While we would like to keep them together, they are not bonded and can be adopted separately. He was hit by his owner but he doesn't seem to be as traumatized as Lucy.   Ricky, true to his namesake, is full of life and charm — friendly, outgoing, and always ready for a cuddle.   Thank you for helping us keep our promise — to care for seniors like Lucy and Ricky when they need us most. Story
*** AVAILABLE ON-SITE ONLY FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS *** Looking for an adorable, laid-back companion? Waylon is your guy! He is easy going, friendly, and easy to please. Regular meals, some bones to chew on, a lap to curl up in (he is a world-class snuggler), and belly rubs are all this older gentleman desires. In return he will be your loyal, loving best friend forever. He quickly settled in with his foster family's four big dogs and bonded with their people. While he will occasionally follow and play with the other dogs, he mostly prefers doing his own thing and being near his person. He's a good boy that does well in his crate and enjoys going for walks. He does need a little time to adjust to a new home and surroundings (who doesn't?! :), so he would love a patient forever family that keeps him on a bathroom routine while he gets comfortable. If that's you, consider opening your home to give sweet Waylon the good life he deserves!

Story
*** AVAILABLE ON-SITE ONLY FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS *** If your idea of a perfect evening is one spent at home watching a show on TV or reading a good book with a calm and loyal friend by your side, you've got to meet Miller! First things first... yes, he has the most amazing blue eyes, and he is indeed as handsome as his pictures show, but he is so much more. This young fellow is as sweet and loving as they come, once he gets to know and trust the humans in his life. He is a bit reserved when meeting new people but warms up very quickly and once he has decided to love a person, he loves with his whole heart. His favorite things are snuggling on the sofa and sleeping next to you in the big bed. He is good in his crate at mealtimes but otherwise has not required crating in his foster home. He is somewhat timid on the leash and enjoys walks and hikes in quieter settings, but needs to build confidence before being comfortable walking in busy and noisy neighborhoods. He rides perfectly in the car and his foster family have not once heard him bark. He is doing well with his housetraining on a consistent schedule but will need ongoing, kind, consistent reinforcement of good potty habits. He gets along well with other dogs around his own size and calm energy level and would likely be fine as an only dog as well. He is the perfect size - not big but not tiny, so ready to travel or live anywhere as long as he is with his people. Because he can be a bit timid, he'd likely do best in a quiet home with adults and older children. Seriously... he is the sweetest boy, don't miss your chance to make him your new best friend!

Story
Sweet and savory Shawn brings it all...and is a man for all tastes! This little beagle mix (with the longest ears around btw) weighs about 24 lbs now with the gain to pack on a few more. Shawn brings all of the things you want in a beagle. With the great looks, a nose for news, great energy level and a desire to be with his people all the time not to mention his ability to clean up crumbs and sniff a lap that needs sitting in. Shawn does well with other dogs though could happily be solo too. He is the smallest tricolored beagle package around who is waiting for a home that accommodate these good looks and big heart.
