Story
(DOB 11/01/2018) Charlie, the bundle of fun and energy that’s ready to bring joy to any home! This playful guy is all about having a good time whether it’s running through the sprinkler on a hot summer day or chasing leaves in the back yard in the fall!  Charlie’s also super smart and knows a lot of commands, making him an eager learner. His cuddles are top-notch, and he’s a master of giving sweet, gentle kisses and deep, loving stares right into your eyes. He’d thrive in a home with a yard, or with an active family who’ll keep him moving if they live in an apartment. He’d make an excellent addition to a family with one or two other dogs, though he’d be just as happy being your one-and-only best buddy. We think he'd do great with kids, too! Charlie is playful, loving, and just plain fun—if you’re looking for a happy, energetic companion, he’s your guy! Charlie has a big personality in a compact size (~40lbs), especially when it comes to his interest in those other furries called cats! If he spots a cat, he’s very interested in giving chase, so be aware when you are out and about. He is also still mastering walking on a leash and still pulls but  working on it. Charlie sleeps in his kennel, and he has a nice cushy bed which he doesn't chew. If you have a fence yard and you let Charlie out to romp, run around, play and goof off, know he loves to dig. Keep him busy otherwise he could get into some mishchief. After a long and lovely romp, he likes to chill out in a big, comfy bed on his cot. Are you looking for a guy just like Charlie? Then get your application submitted! As part of Charlie’s $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Charlie, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2239684##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Lucy – A Gentle 9Year-Old Basset Hound–Terrier Mix  Lucy is a shy, timid, and incredibly sweet 9-year-old Basset Hound–Terrier mix who arrived at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue after her owner entered hospice care. She and her brother, Ricky, spent their entire lives together, but sadly, not in a safe or loving environment. The family openly admitted that both dogs were hit throughout their lives as a form of discipline—and that no one ever stepped in to stop the abuse. They were surrendered when their owner entered hospice.  To make matters worse, not a single family member, including the owner’s husband, was willing to take them in. When they were surrendered, the family assured us the dogs were up to date on their shots, but we quickly discovered they had not seen a veterinarian in more than three years. Both arrived with severe dental disease, and Lucy was additionally diagnosed with a heart murmur. Now safe at Rainbow Bridge, Lucy is slowly learning that gentle hands and kind voices exist, and that she finally deserves the comfort and compassion she was always denied. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Lucy is the quieter of the pair, she is timid and flinches when you raise your hand to pet her. She’s gentle, calm, and enjoys spending her days lounging in soft blankets or quietly following her foster mom around the house. Life has recently changed a lot for her, and she’s still learning to trust and feel secure again. With patience, kindness, and love, Lucy’s sweet personality continues to blossom a little more every day.  She is potty trained but does occasionally have accidents.   Adoption Fee  $300 tps://rainbowbridgerescue.org/adopt/  Application must be completed Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2025, 6:10 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ricky A 14-year-old Basset Hound–Terrier mix who recently came to Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue after his owner passed away and none of the family would take him.  He arrived with Lucy and these two sweet souls have spent their entire lives together.  While we would like to keep them together, they are not bonded and can be adopted separately. He was hit by his owner but he doesn't seem to be as traumatized as Lucy.   Ricky, true to his namesake, is full of life and charm — friendly, outgoing, and always ready for a cuddle.   Thank you for helping us keep our promise — to care for seniors like Lucy and Ricky when they need us most. Story
This pet was brought in as a stray and will NOT be available for adoption through our program. All stray animals brought in are posted on the gallery to hopefully be reunited with their families. Each pet is evaluated upon arrival, and throughout their stay, at the Animal Center and we do our best to place the animal in the setting most appropriate for them. Sometimes, they may be better served through one of our Transfer Partners due to the intervention needed, ongoing care required or a quieter setting for that individual. We want our animals to put their best paw forward. If you are a 501c3 rescue and are interested in partnering with WCAC to help this pet, and others, you can find more information on how to help at: https://www.wakegov.com/departments-government/animal-services/community-partners/transfer-program If this is your pet, please contact us immediately at AnimalCenter@wake.gov Primary Color: Cream Secondary Color: White Weight: 17 Age: 11yrs 0mths 0wks

Story
Vanilla is the sweetest girl you'll ever meet. She loves affection so much we're not sure there's a point at which she'd want someone to stop petting her. If she had her way, you'd pet her until your arm fell off. She loves being near her people, but for such an affectionate dog, she's not big on kisses. A plus for a lot of folks! Vanilla is only about a year old, so she's still a playful young lady. She loves toys, balls, and running around the yard. She is dog friendly and absolutely adores people. We don't think Vanilla has been taught any basic manners so she's learning everything now. She's already making great strides learning not to jump on people; she's mastered the dog door and potty training. Vanilla is a perfect angel, sleeping in her crate at night without complaint. When she was surrendered to the shelter her owner listed her as a Basset Hound, but we're not sure her former owner had actually ever seen a Basset Hound before. We think it's more likely that she's a Beagle, albeit a big one. Our girl could stand to lose a few pounds! Vanilla would do best in a single family home. Although she doesn’t bark a lot when her people are home, we’ve noticed she doesn’t like being left alone and barks some when she’s left. Apply to adopt this very good girl!
