Midge is a very gentle Basset Hound and Chinese Shar pei mix looking for a forever home. She was taken in from a bad hoarding situation and is now doing living in a REAL foster home with other happy and loved friends and food and medical care too!! I am learning everyday what it means to be man's best friend and it is pretty sweet :) Midge came to the rescue with little hair and skin infections and entropion on both eyes (meaning her eyelashes were scraping her eyes every minute of every day..... think about how miserable it is to have ONE eyelash in your eye ;( and STILL a sweet and loving personality, despite how she was physically. The rescue fixed all my stuff up and now I have gorgeous, shiny and thick black fur and my eyes don't hurt anymore!!! She would be best in a home with another calm and confident dog. No food issues, couchy potato in training!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

I had adopted Ginger 2 years ago as a puppy. Born approx. February 2022. she weighs 40 lbs. long body and short legs. Loves to snuggle, give kisses, play in her pool, play with stick with her sister Kissie. Plays great with Kissie and Ms. Dumpling. Couple reasons for surrendering Ginger. I am 60 and had a mild stroke last summer 2023. Ginger has been spoiled as I do my other 2 dogs. I had checked into a trainer to help with her behavioral issues. I just cannot afford it. She needs to be with someone who can work with her. A home where she is the only dog. She gets jealous over treats and attention from me. If she hides a treat and other dog walks by, she will change and attack. But as a norm she is loving. She loves her oversized lambie, likes to be covered with a blanket and play. Oh, I had her on pet safe zap collar and uses washable potty mat while at work. I have allowed her to sleep and get on my furniture.

Meet Frida - Dolly! Miss Frida is on the hunt for a forever family. Frida originally came to us in the late summer of 2022 as an adorable young pup, she was later adopted into a very loving home. Unfortunately, in the beginning of 2024, Frida's adopter had to return her to us by no fault of her own. They had nothing but wonderful things to say about her, and wanted the best possible home for her. We estimate Frida's birthday to be 07/05/2022, and she is the cutest little basset hound mix. She sports the short, stocky legs of the basset breed, but not much else! She has a lovely white and brindle coat, and the most loving personality you'll meet. She can be a little shy at first glance, but once she warms up, good luck finding a more friendly girl! Frida loves other dogs, but as always we require a meet and greet if you already have any at home. She also does well with cats, and kids too! Frida does have a some skin sensitivities. We are keeping her on a special diet to keep her skin healthy and clear, and she is looking wonderful. Her food is available at any pet supply store, so no need to worry about an expensive prescription.  Frida is fully vetted, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $175. Interested? When Irish eyes are smiling, does that mean they are happy? Or maybe they had too many pints at the pub? My eyes are smiling, and I am a non drinker, just want to have full disclosure here! Even though my eyes were smiling in these pictures. I was desperate for help for my little one, Lewis. You see, he was dying...full of internal and external parasites he really had no fight left in him and I knew it as his mother... so I used my Irish eyes to get us saved. AND IT WORKED!! Our lives are do amazing now, Lewis is alive and well after some very intense care, and ADOPTED INTO AN AMAZING HOME!!! I am not ever producing more babies, so it is all good! Now I get my turn for love, comfort and safety and a FOREVER HOME!! I am an adorable girl, about 50# of low-rider basset/heeler-ness. I am great with other dogs and like to play keep away! Nan arrived at Horse Creek Wildlife on September 23, 2021. He is a very sweet and handsome fellow. He plays great with other dogs and loves spending time with people. He is extremely affectionate and will take all the attention you are willing to give him. We think he may be a Bassett hound mix. He currently weighs 32 pounds. Nan will make a great family pet! He is anxiously waiting for a family of his very own! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered and current on all vaccinations. They receive monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention. All of their medical needs are taken care of before they are available for adoption. Our adoption fee is $100.00. Please complete an application, if you have found a dog you are interested in adopting. You can find our application at www.horsecreekwildlife.org/applic.html. Once completed, you can forward it to adoptions@horsecreekwildlife.org or fax it to 731-926-3000. Kim Austin, our adoption facilitator, will be in contact with you as soon as she has an opportunity to review your application. Understand that she has other duties and she will not ignore any interest shown in adopting one of our dogs. An application will need to be approved before a scheduled time to visit our dogs will be set up. It may take up to 48 hours before she returns your call or responds to your email, due to work schedules, holidays and adoption events. We do the very best we can for the dogs we have rescued and do not take the adoption process lightly. Please be patient and understand that we will place our rescued dogs in the very best homes possible and reserve the right to refuse applications.
