Story
Sonic Henson is currently in Rhode Island and looking for a ‘furever’ home! Sonic is not comfortable with men and is looking for a women only home that will respect his boundaries. He can be reactive to other dogs and would need very slow, structured introductions and plenty of time to acclimate. An adopter committed to continuing his training and confidence building will help him continue the great progress he has already made. Once comfortable sweet little Sonic is a total ham and an expert cuddler who loves being as close to his people as possible. He adores sleeping snuggled in bed, happily follows you from room to room, and despite that is also great in his crate and sleeps through the night. He is just as happy lounging around as he is playing fetch, going for walks, or riding in the car. Sonic is smart and truly enjoys training. He's ready to be an incredibly devoted companion for the right home willing to go at his pace. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.      January 15, 2026, 6:02 pm

Story
Meet Paisley, a gentle beagle girl whose heart is finally ready to bloom. Paisley was found wandering as a stray in Mississippi, scared, skin raw with mange, skinny and hungry. When she was finally caught and brought to the shelter over a year ago, she was timid and unsure of the world. But with time, kindness, and steady care, Paisley is slowly rediscovering what it means to feel safe.Today, Paisley loves to go outside, stretch her legs, and run free—her beagle nose in the air, ears bouncing, soaking up every bit of sunshine. She is well-mannered, walks beautifully on a leash, and enjoys exploring at her own pace.Meeting new people can still make her a bit shy at first, but once she trusts you, she becomes affectionate and loyal. She has done well with children she’s met, gently accepting their attention and company. With other dogs, Paisley can be selective—some she’s perfectly fine with, others she prefers to avoid. Her ideal home will be one that listens to her comfort level and respects her space.Paisley isn’t just looking for a place to sleep—she’s searching for someone patient enough to let her continue to blossom, someone who sees not just who she is today but who she is becoming. Watching this girl learn to love and trust again is a truly rewarding experience. If you’re ready to be the chapter in Paisley’s story where everything finally gets better, she’s waiting—soft eyes, steady heart, and so much hope.Name: PaisleyBreed: Beagle/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 2 years  (estimated)Weight: 42.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Positive on recent testing. Story
Starri may be tiny at 13 lbs, but her spirit is anything but. This sweet little beagle (possibly sprinkled with a dash of weenie dog) was found alone by a Southern animal control officer — favoring an injured back leg, carrying a dislocated hip, and a damaged knee. Her past is mostly a mystery, but her resilience speaks louder than any backstory ever could. Once safe in foster care, X-rays revealed significant injuries — a dislocated hip and torn ligaments around her knee. She bravely underwent both hip and knee surgery to give her the pain-free future she deserved. And through it all — pre-op jitters, post-op staples, recovery weeks — Starri has remained unshaken. On paper, her injuries sound overwhelming… but in real life, she’s been a steady, shining reminder that hard things can’t dim a bright soul. She thrives alongside other dogs and absolutely adores her oversized foster siblings. Her small size has never slowed her down — not before surgery, not after, not even now during recovery. She truly believes she’s one of the big dogs, and honestly? They’ve welcomed her right into the pack.Starri is still learning to trust humans again, but she’s making gentle, intentional progress every day. She loves belly rubs, treats, cozy snuggles, calm companionship…and also values her independence. Her favorite pastime? Nose to the ground, sniffing every scent like she’s solving the world’s cutest mystery. She explores smells like it’s her full-time job, and she takes that job very seriously.Being around other dogs gives her confidence, comfort, and security — proof that trust can be felt long before it’s understood.Because of her journey, her heart, and the way she finds safety in the presence of other dogs, Starri will need a dog companion in her forever home. Not just a friend — but a steady sidekick to help her continue blooming into her bravest self. A confident canine buddy is truly where she feels most understood, secure, and at home.Starri is ready for a patient, loving home that will celebrate her strength, nurture her trust, and never underestimate the heart of a tiny dog with an unstoppable soul.Starri — small in size, stellar in soul.A little star with a very big story still unfolding.Name: StarriBreed: Beagle/DachshundSex: FemaleAge: 1 year  (estimated)Weight: 13.lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: Over 5Good with Dogs: Yes, needs a canine companion in his homeGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:    Tennessee  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Meet Bert & Ernie — floppy ears, happy hearts, and nonstop smiles. If you love beagles, Bert & Ernie will steal your heart.Bert is the picture-perfect beagle boy—about 12-18 months old, happy-go-lucky, with ears that flop when he runs and a personality that matches his smile. He’s cheerful, friendly, and always seems excited about whatever comes next.Ernie looks like a black-and-tan coonhound in a beagle-sized body and may be a few months younger than Bert. He’s just as sweet, just as happy, and brings his own gentle charm to the duo. These boys currently share a kennel and eat together with no issues at all. They’ve been introduced to other dogs, including another female beagle and a much larger Great Dane/Pit mix , and they did wonderfully with both. They’re social, friendly, and take new experiences in stride.Bert and Ernie do not have to be adopted together, but they genuinely enjoy each other’s company and would make excellent companions for another dog—or for each other. Whether adopted as a pair or individually, each of these boys is ready to bring laughter, love, and classic beagle charm into a forever home. We call them the Beagle Boys because everywhere they go, joy follows. Bert is your classic beagle. Ernie is a coonhound soul in a beagle body. They don’t have to stay together—but they sure do love being together. They’re not Beastie Boys… They’re the BEAGLE BOYS.Adopt one or adopt both — either way, you’re getting joy on four legs.Name: BertBreed: Beagle/CrossbreedSex: MaleAge: 1 year  (estimated)Weight: 23lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: UnknownGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:    Tennessee  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England. Age:   approx 2 years old   Weight: 18  lbs My adoption fee is $ 575  which includes transportation charges to the Northeast.   Riley was found by a good Samaritan who could not find her owner.  Riley was a little shy initially but she is quickly warming up.  She is a really sweet girl.  Riley does have the beagle voice but she would be a great addition to a family that loves the beagle breed. Story
Thank you for your interest in adopting! Fiona is so much prettier in person than these pictures! Fiona is fostered in an Alabama foster home and will transport after she's adopted. We have adopted dogs long distance for over 15 years. When your application is approved to adopt her, we will reach out to you and then put you in touch with her foster family for FaceTime, and more pictures and videos. Fiona was found stray with her brother and no one looked for them. Not uncommon in the south! She lives in a foster home with a working couple, but Foster dad works from home and lets the dogs out, several cats in the home, and other adult dogs. Fiona loves babies and kids. Fiona is spayed, current on puppy vaccines and boosters, rabies, microchip, dewormed, and receiving parasite prevention. She's approx 16 weeks and weighs 20 pounds at Christmas. We do expect her to grow to 25-30 pounds, but to stay short like a Bassett. Serious Adopters should fill out the application online and we will be in touch with you. We do like to see a vet reference, current or previous. The adoption fee is $585 and it hasn't changed in years. This fee includes transportation to her northern home, which we have to pay for, and a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian that comes at a cost as well. https://form.jotform.com/212574701956157 The next Transport arrives January 16, 2026 with adopted dogs.
