Story
UPDATE: Rubble recently graduated an 8 week Basic Obedience Training class at the Academy of Dog Training and Agility with Dr. Elwood. He was a star student and learned how to sit, stay, lay down, leave it, politely greet people, and walking loosely on a leash at your side. He also learned the command "Touch" and "watch" to help him focus during distracting situations. Dr. Elwood said that Rubble learned everything so quickly and would make a fabulous Rally, Agility, or other sport dog if someone was interested in more advanced training. His adopter will come with a coupon so they can participate in classes with the trainers he is familiar with and you can learn along side of him. Rubble is a friendly, affectionate and playful athletic dog who loves giving kisses to his favorite humans. He absolutely loves to go hiking and playing outside. Rubble has spent his almost 3 years of life in a kennel or shelter and he deserves to know what a loving home feels like! He is an all-round sweetheart who loves to play and would suit an active home without any children. Rubble does do well with cats and some dogs, but would need to meet them first. He would be an excellent companion for a young couple or individual who is looking for a dog to exercise with and cuddle up with on the couch at night after a day of adventures. If you are interested in meeting Rubble, please contact Cheyla's Rescue and submit an application!

Meet Andrew! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Andrew is a 3-year-old beagle with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. At just 13 pounds, he’s the perfect size to curl up in your lap—and he’d love nothing more than to be your cuddle buddy. Story
This friend has just arrived to us on transport from a high-intake shelter partner! When our friends are new to us, we are often unsure of their full background. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and update their bio with more information as we learn. They are pending interactions with animals until they have been cleared by our vet. Please note that we often are unsure of house, crate, car, and leash training status upon arrival. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Landenberg, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Murphy – A Gentle Soul Ready for His Second Chance
🐾 Age: 9 years old
🐾 Weight: 24 lbs (needs to gain a bit more)
🐾 Breed: Tricolor Beagle
🐾 Location: Landenberg, PA
🐾 Requirements: Fenced-in yard, quiet and patient home Murphy is a 9-year-old beagle with the softest eyes and an even softer heart. Found as a stray in Southern Delaware, he clearly lived a hard life outdoors—likely as a hunter or breeder dog. Despite everything he's been through, Murphy is now discovering the joys of indoor life, warm blankets, and gentle human companionship. He’s looking for someone to help him keep learning what love really means. Murphy isn’t blind or deaf, but he is a little hard of hearing. He’s housebroken if he has access to a fenced-in yard, and he’ll also use a pee pad if one is down. Murphy walks nicely on a leash but hasn’t quite figured out it’s okay to go potty on walks—yet. That’s something he’ll likely learn with time and routine. He must have a fenced-in yard, as this is what he's comfortable with and where he feels safest doing his business. He’s had a lot of vetting since coming into our care: he’s now neutered, had a mass removed from his foot, was treated for Lyme and Ehrlichia, had a dental, and healed from an anal gland infection. The best news? He’s currently healthy and not on any medications or prescription diets. Because Murphy spent his life outdoors, he’s still learning about stairs and indoor living. He can go upstairs and hop on furniture but needs guidance (and a little bravery) to come back down. He startles easily, so a quiet, patient home—possibly with dog-savvy kids or other calm dogs—would be ideal. He’s very dog-friendly, and he’s even learned that cats are best left alone. Once Murphy trusts you, he’s a total cuddler who will sit in your lap and melt into your ear rubs and chin scratches. He rarely barks, prefers to sleep on a soft mat or blanket, and gets more comfortable in cozy spots like the couch or bed with time. He doesn’t like being picked up—especially by strangers—but with gentle patience and earned trust, he’ll allow it. Murphy is a sweet, gentle, and deeply affectionate soul who just needs someone to believe in him. He’s smart, eager to please, and forming attachments to kind humans comes naturally to him—he just needs time. If you’ve got a calm home, a fenced yard, and a big heart for a beagle who never really had a chance to be someone’s dog, Murphy might be the perfect fit. He’s ready to give you his trust—and his heart.
