Story
Hi! My name is Nash, I am an 14-15 week old, 14lb and growing small/medium breed hound mix - maybe beagle, treeing walker or maybe basset? My 2 brothers and I were found in a ditch in Tennessee and sent to rescue. We came pretty sick and have gained our strength and are ready to take on the world! My foster mom says that I’ve come a long way since I arrived too afraid for people to touch me, now I am the first to greet her every morning or hop into a strangers laps especially kids! I even love going to soccer and baseball games to meet all the new people there. I have also perfected the art of puppy kisses and will lick your face if you hold me. My happiest place is playing with my dog friends and my brothers and BOY do I LOVE food!! If you drop it I promise you, I will sniff it out and eat it quickly! I also love my peanut butter kong when it’s time to go in my crate or wind down. I absolutely love to run and wrestle and play tug of war with our fancy rope toys or any ball insight! Turkey tendons are my favorite chew and sleeping next to you or a furry friend is my favorite place to be. I am a sweet boy and very affectionate and will seek out someone to cuddle dog or human. I am the first to run to my foster mom when she calls my name. And love to play with my foster families kids! I am already quite smart and social! I love my 6 foster dog friends especially the pittie mix and the Aussie who take turns being my mama! I’ve met my grandma’s chi and he was so fun too so were her cats and am very respectful of their corrections. I appropriately greet new dogs and have been a puppy rockstar at our adoption events saying hello to everyone. I love children even being held by them gently in their laps and have met those 2-17. I’ve trained foster human kids to chase and play fetch with me. I am a smart boy and doing very well pottying outside with routine, sleep in my crate and stay quiet at night and wake my foster mom up at 6 to go potty and eat. I have learned to “sit” “touch”, down” and are working on recall and I do also know my name. If you are looking for chiller pup who loves to play and be around other dogs and kids Nash is your perfect pair! While he doesn’t have to be on top of you or always carried he loves his humans and fur friends and actively seeks their attention! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. An application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee adoption but does allow us to begin the review process. Please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant (adopter) for any reason.

Story
Meet Albert, the pup with the incredible ears—and an even more incredible personality! At 1.5 years old and 33 pounds, this Boxer mix is the definition of a best friend. Albert is a cuddly, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side. He’s playful and full of life, always ready for tug-of-war, chasing tennis balls, munching sticks, or running laps around the yard. With his big heart and boundless energy, Albert will make a fun and active addition to a lucky forever home. Albert spent much of his first year in a shelter, but since joining his foster family he’s blossomed. He’s learning basic doggy manners, sleeps well in his crate, and is making steady progress with potty training. He’s smart, attentive, and eager to please—picking up new commands quickly. This sweet boy would do best in a home with a fully fenced yard in a calm neighborhood, where he can play safely and build confidence. He loves other dogs and would enjoy a canine friend, and because of his energy level, a home with children 10 and older is ideal. Story
Hey there! I’m Turtle, and I come fully equipped with floppy ears, tiny paws, and enough sweetness to melt your heart. I was born in the first few days of September of this year I’m a 10-pound beagle mix looking for my forever family. Don’t worry—I’m much less messy than my dessert nickname… probably.   My foster family loves to brag about me and they’ve outlined some of my star qualities: I’m the friendly, playful sidekick you’ve been wishing for. Whether it’s chasing toys, pouncing on crinkly things, or just wiggling my whole body because I’m excited to see you, I’m always ready to have fun.  Speaking of fun, I thrive with my two sisters — I love chase games, wrestling, and snuggling up at nap time. I’d love to join your dog pack, though I’m just as happy to be your one and only.   Sleeping Beauty. Even though I love to play, I’m super quiet in my pen. The humans say that means I’ll probably learn crate training quickly. I’m smart like that. (And cute. Very cute.)   Potty training in progress! I’m a baby, but I’m trying really hard to figure out where everything goes. With some routine and encouragement, I’ll get it down in no time!   Gentle treat taker. I’m a soft-mouthed, sweet-natured pup who takes treats so politely that even tiny humans feel safe giving them to me. I love gentle pats, wiggly play, and following kids around like they’re my built-in adventure buddies.   Big, Soft Puppy Gaze. I give the sweetest, most adoring eye contact—especially when I’m snuggled up. It’s like I’m memorizing your face so I can adore you better.     If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle, playful pup to grow up by your side, I think we’re meant to be. Chocolate kisses and caramel wishes, Turtle   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Story
Have you ever heard the phrase, “To know a beagle is to love a beagle,” but realized you’ve never actually met one? Well, lucky you—here I am, the sweetest beagle around, and I just so happen to be looking for my forever home! My name is Laia, and I’m two years old. I absolutely love being around other dogs and would make a wonderful companion for any canine friends you already have. I’m okay with cats, too—though between you and me, they’re not quite as fun as dogs, but I won’t bother them. I’m looking for someone who understands my breed and is willing to be patient and gentle with me. I’ve had a tough start and carry some fear-based behaviors, so I’ll need your help learning that the world doesn’t have to be so scary. Loud noises and sudden movements are especially frightening for me, so I’d really prefer a calm, quiet home with soft voices and predictable routines. I’ll also need to stay leashed outdoors until I’m no longer a flight risk—so those joyful off-leash zoomies will have to wait just a little while. I may be timid at first. It will take time for me to believe that you’re truly here to love and protect me—but once I do, I will blossom. I can be incredibly snuggly and affectionate with the people I trust, and I have so much love to give. Just a little praise means the world to me, so don’t hold back on the compliments! I promise I’m worth the wait. With patience and kindness, I’ll show you just how special a beagle’s love can be.   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  .
