Story
I'm Simba! I have been spending some time in a foster home with one of the volunteers here and the have reported that I am very playful at home and love toys. So much so that I throw them on to myself to get attention when no one will play with me. I really enjoy the company of other playful dogs and lived with the volunteer's three dogs that were all smaller than me. Here at the shelter, I have been in playgroups with large dogs as well! I do not like to meet people when I am on leash, but if you have guests over and they give me space I will likely warm up quickly. While I was in my foster home, I was not destructive and could likely learn to be left out while my family is away, but I was also very content to nap in my kennel when needed. I'm a goofy boy that would love to live with other dogs, but would prefer a home without small children.

*Currently off site, please apply to meet me!*Hello! My name is Ninya and I am a spunky 54lb, 4yr old beagle, hound, & lab mix. I came to the shelter as a stray. It`s ruff being at the shelter for almost 100 days, but I`m still a fun-loving girl who enjoys playing with toys, zoomies, and leaning in for snuggles. I`ve perfected my head tilt which I use to get lotsa treats. I also know sit and shake. If you`re looking for a friend to make you smile everyday, I`m definitely your girl! The staff here describe me as `super friendly and sweet`, and I have to agree because I love to lean in to get pets and scratches. I enjoy going on walks to explore the great outdoors and sniff all the different smells. It is unknown how I will do with other dogs, cats or children, but slow introductions are always best for me to learn others. I am guaranteed to make you smile! *Please apply on our website at indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet. *Click on the adoption application link, enter your information, and click submit. You can include multiple pets that you are interested in on one application. *Once you have submitted your adoption application, please visit the shelter to speak with one of our Adoption Counselors, who will assist you with meeting some of our animals. *We offer a Cuddle before you Commit program where you can slowly introduce it to the rest of your animals and family, and then finalize your decision. Thank you for your interest in adopting one of our FABULOUS PETS! We hope to see you soon, The IACS Adoptions Team.

Hello all you groovy humans! My name is Phil. I`m just a puppy of only six months old. I already weigh 45 pounds and it should be expected that I`ll get bigger before I`m all finished growing. I did come to IACS as a stray so not a whole lot of my short life is known before I got here. That`s ok, like I said I`m just a puppy and I`ve got my whole life to make memories... I just need YOU! I`m currently trying to learn how to walk on a leash, I`m not so good at it, maybe you could help me! I am a puppy full of all the puppy energy! I`d love a human who also likes to take walks or runs, or PLAY all day! If I sound like your kind of guy, head over to IACS and adopt me! I might need some time in my new home to decompress and process my new surroundings before meeting the whole gang. That`s ok though because IACS offers a cuddle before you commit program to ensure I am the best fit for you and your home. We`ll have pleanty of time to get to know everyone! *Please apply on our website at indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet. *Click on the adoption application link, enter your information, and click submit. PLEASE READ: Thank you for your interest in one of our adoptable dogs! All dogs listed are still available. If interested, please complete our no obligation application. This can be found at www.waldosmuttleycrew.org. Select the Applications tab, then Adoption Application. THE APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BEFORE WE CAN START THE PROCESS. It can take up to a week to process an application. We are an all-volunteer rescue so please be patient. Our adoption area is limited to a 4 hour radius of Indianapolis. We try our best to provide all information in our bios. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask during the interview process. Some of our dogs have special requirements such as needs another dog in the home or requires a physical and permanent fenced yard. These requirements are not negotiable. Unless otherwise noted, we do not cat test our adoptable dogs. We also require that all pets in your household be spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and on a monthly heartworm/flea preventative. E-MAILS: We do not respond to e-mail inquiries without an application. We regret that we cannot respond to every e-mail unless you fill out an application. All the dogs we offer for adoption have been spayed/neutered, wormed and microchipped, are up-to-date on immunizations, have been tested for heartworm and are currently receiving a monthly preventative. If the dog had additional medical issues, those have also been addressed. Visit our website www.waldosmuttleycrew.org for more information and to complete an application. Two year old beagle, Dorothy, is ready for her "furever home" along with her best friend & soul mate, Luther! This pair had a pretty rough time in their past. They were confiscated from a drug house along with over 50 other dogs during a police raid. When we got them, they had to deal with drug withdrawal along with PTSD related to abuse & undersocialization. They have both come so very far. Luther now lets most people pet and cuddle with him; Dorothy still has trust issues but, given time & lots of peanut butter, she is now climbing in laps. Once Dorothy learns that you are safe, she just can't get enough attention and will stay in your lap for hours, snuggled up as close as she can get. This pair is also the source of much laughter for us as their antics during play are hilarious. Both are so mischievous! Dorothy delights in high speed chases and is incredibly fast; once she tires, Luther will pounce on her and they wrestle & play tug of war. They will need a large fenced in yard so that they can play & explore - two things they never got to do in their previous life. Dorothy & Luther are too scared to be in a home with children as they still have trust issues; they need calm, patient parents who will be able to give them all the love & attention they crave so that they can thrive & continue to learn that the world and people are safe. The adoption fee for this pair is $375; they are spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations as well as monthly heartworm/flea prevention. Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.org . (Indianapolis area)

Story
WE LOVE GILLIGAN!!! And we are sure you will, too! He's an adorable 3 year old, 20 lb beagle who's all tail wags & wiggles! Gilligan is a happy go lucky boy who wakes up every day with a smile on his face; he's just a little ray of sunshine! He does have neurological issues caused by brain damage due to a slight skull deformity. This could have been a congenital issue or perhaps trauma when he was born. As a result, Gilligan is permanently puppy-like in his behaviors & demeanor. He's a bit clumsy and uncoordinated but still loves racing around the yard & wrestling with other dogs. He's mischievous and is fascinated by feet when you are walking; he's such a silly boy! Gilligan is getting the idea of potty training but it seems that he might need to always wear a diaper when indoors ... we just aren't sure yet. Because of his brain damage, he's a little slow ... but he's eager to please and so much wants to make his "people" happy! Gilligan loves to go on walks and is absolutely perfect in the car; he lies down & goes to sleep immediately. The car noise lulls him into a deep snooze. Gilligan's perfect Furever Home will have a fenced in yard, a playful dog companion and someone who is home with him most of the time. If you think Gilligan would be a good fit for you, please let us know! His adoption fee is $225; he is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on monthly heartworm / flea preventative. And he's also had his teeth cleaned! Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.org . (Indianapolis area)

Story
Meet Karai!!! Karai is a 5-year-old, beagle TWCH beagle mix, who's been with us since fall 2020. Karai came to us transferred in from another rescue. She was extremely feral, supposedly. With time she showed us she is timid and shy but curiosity gets the best of her, always. Karai needs a home that will, embrace her curiosity, encourage her and not feel bad or sorry for her. She needs patience and nurturing, but an environment where she will not be held back nor limited. Be confident it's all okay. Every day is new to her as she improves. We do not shelter her or take any outrageous precautions to accommodate her insecurities. We encourage and expose her and introduce her to as many things, places, toys, food, locations, and adventures as possible. She is thriving and continues to thrive and improve every day! Karai is great with all dogs. She is best in the home with other dogs. She can be very playful with all dogs, and respectful of cats. Older kids would be best, if any. Karai loves her daily walks, a nice fence in the yard 4 ft minimum is a must, and a home with at least one other balanced, active, playful outgoing dog who will help her continue to overcome her fears is preferred. Karai is very food motivated. Oh, man is she ever! Loves all food! She is still a bit jumpy but each day we notice improvement. Patience is the key to best helping her be the best dog she was meant to be. Plus she's so sweet and calm and best of all LAZZZYYY! Karai is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto and corona as well as rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped including free registration, spay, and current on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Updated: 3/24/2023 www.animalhousesanctuary.org We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are a required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets.

Story
Meet Tessa! A 3 year old beagle English bulldog mix. I guess one of them designer Mutts. Beautiful dog indeed she is but..... Takes a very patient , willing, and very understanding person to adopt Tessa. Sadly she has had 3 homes and everyone quit as she was all over the map (she is much better now). She does it all and has no care as she does NOT HIDE WHEN DOING NAUGHTY THINGS. She is a total sweet heart. Bless her heart! She is just mischievous as hell! We are working hard to eliminate those awful behaviors. All while on a strict diet and lots of exercise through out the day. In the last few months she has lost good weight (she was too fat), has learned, and accepts correction, and progress is being made with basic obedience training. She is great when asked to stay still for baths, nail trimming, teeth brushing, ear cleaning finally! She is cat, dog, and kid friendly too! Tessa is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention.
