LuLu is an 8-year-old Beagle/Hound mix who’s a total pro at family life. She’s spent the last four years living with cats and the last two years with her dog sister, Dixie, so she’s very well-socialized. She’s also been around kids of all ages and is a complete sweetheart with them. LuLu is a professional snuggler who loves to burrow under blankets, but she still has that classic hound energy—she’ll need a home with a fence and a family who can take her on regular walks (even though she likes to pull a bit when she finds a good scent!). She’s a typical hound who will definitely raid the trash if she gets the chance, but she makes up for it by being the most loyal, loving companion you could ask for

Dixie is a 3-year-old mix—we think she’s a blend of Beagle, Cattle Dog, and Husky. She’s a smart girl who knows her commands like a Cattle Dog, but she definitely has that sassy Husky attitude and will "talk back" or show her teeth when she’s feeling opinionated. Dixie is easy to walk and a big-time cuddler who will paw at you for more attention. ​She is naturally protective of her family and is generally good with kids, though she does have firm boundaries. While she has never actually bitten anyone, she did give a warning nip when a toddler pulled her skin too hard, so she’d do best in a home with older children or those who know how to respect a dog's space. Unlike her sister LuLu, Dixie does not do well with cats at all and needs a feline-free home. She can also be a bit "bossy" with her treats or when trying to "correct" LuLu. Dixie is a loyal, vocal girl who just needs a confident owner who understands her big personality

Story
We adopted Otis when he was 7 months old and he is now 10.5. He is a very good boy overall but still has a lot of energy for being a senior! He is very handsome with beautiful coloring and photogenic. He loves walks and being active. He is very potty trained. Ideally he needs a yard with a fence. He unfortunately is afraid of strollers and has gotten a lot less activity over the last 3 years after we had our baby. I am now pregnant again and we are looking to rehome Otis to a place where he can have a lot of attention and love. He has always been very good to our son and never aggressive toward him. Every once in a while he shows territory over his food. He is good to other dogs and never barks at dogs or humans on walks. We currently groom him once every 6 weeks for a good bath and nail trim. He used to be crate trained but he would often bark a lot while we were gone and now leave him out.

Meet Maybelle-a gentle senior beagle looking for a soft place to land. I was originally adopted from ARPO in 2013. I lived with my human until my human passed away in 2025. Indianapolis Animal Care and Control took me in and contacted ARPO. I was very lucky that my original foster was able to take me back. It took a few months for me to get ready to be adopted. I had to go on a diet. I did need a complete dental work up because my teeth were not the greatest. But I did keep more teeth than my foster mom thought. I am a sweet, soulful senior beagle. As noted above, I lived with the same person my entire life. I do get a little confused with all of the changes. But my foster mom says that I have a big heart and quiet devotion to the people around me. My foster mom says that I am a classic beagle: gentle, affectionate, and happiest when I am near my humans. I enjoy leisurely sniff-filled walks, long naps in sunny spots, and curling up beside my human while reading or watching TV. I am not demanding (unless my human is late for my meal-times). I am just grateful for companionship and kindness. I have wonderful house manners. I prefer a calm, predictable environment. Maybelle would do best with someone who understands the beauty of a senior dog: the slower pace, the wisdom in her eyes, and the deep gratitude she has for love. She is friendly with people and lived peacefully as a single dog. She would probably do well with another mellow canine friend. In her foster home, she lives with other more active dogs. Maybelle has already loved deeply and lost and now she is hoping for a second chance-a quiet home, a comfy bed, and someone who will love her for the rest of her days. In return, Maybelle promises unwavering loyalty, gentle companionship and the kind of love only a senior dog can give. Meet Bernie   1-year-old | Beagle | 27 lbs Bernie came to us after his owner could no longer care for him. He’s spent his life outdoors, so he’s still learning the ropes of being an indoor dog and will need some guidance with house training.   Bernie is a sweet, gentle boy with a curious nose and a loving heart. We believe he’s dog friendly (not officially tested yet) and he doesn’t seem to mind cats.   He’s ready to trade the outdoors for a cozy bed, a family, and a lifetime of adventures.   Neutered, Heartworm & Lyme Negative, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention.
