Story
Hi, my name is Odessa and I am from Alabama! She is a very sweet girl with a lowkey personality and she takes life at a nice easy pace. Her nose is her guide and she loves sniffing outside. She’s good on a leash, doesn’t pull and is friendly and relaxed with everyone, including kids and dogs. Her favorite past time is napping, and sleeping in bed with her humans. She likes to be in the same room as you, but not in your lap. She’s comfortable getting her ears cleaned and nails clipped and being picked up. She’s house trained with no accidents. She’s generally very quiet. When left home alone she is vocal but behaves well otherwise. A home without shared walls would be best for her as she adjusts to feeling more comfortable and confident being home alone. She’s a great companion with love to give! From the vet: I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.

Story
Hi! My name is Nighthawk! Nighthawk, or “Pigeon” to his foster family, is a gentle, sensitive soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe place. This very shy little guy prefers to observe from a distance and has shown only limited interest in human interaction so far. While he is not currently seeking affection or attention from people, he is incredibly tolerant and cooperative with handling and care. Baths, nail trims, medications, and other husbandry needs are all things he quietly allows, even when he’s unsure. Pigeon will need a patient, understanding home committed to moving at his pace and celebrating the small victories as he learns to trust. What brings Pigeon comfort is other dogs. He enjoys canine companionship and looks to confident dogs for reassurance, so he will require a resident dog in his adoptive home. His ideal canine companion would be calm, confident, and respectful — not overly pushy or energetic. Pigeon is currently reliable with potty pads indoors, though he has not yet begun pottying outside. Because leash walking is still very scary and unfamiliar for him, we believe he would thrive in a home with a fully fenced yard where he can safely explore, build confidence, and slowly discover how to simply be a dog. We also think he would thrive best in a quiet, calm neighborhood where he can feel safe and avoid becoming overwhelmed by too much activity or noise. With time, patience, and the right environment, Pigeon has the potential to continue blossoming into a happier and more secure companion.

Hi my name is Dora and I am from Arkansas! Meet Dora - sweet, playful, and clever all wrapped up in one irresistible pup! Dora has a warm, curious personality and a natural love for the people around her. She is calm and cuddly with the kids in her foster home (ages 6 and 3), showing patience and gentleness that are truly impressive. She gets along great with everyone she meets, and she's doing wonderfully with crate training and is well on her way with potty training.

Story
I am looking for a foster or forever family! I need a temp foster from June 19 - 28 (I have knee surgery on June 24). Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can say YES to fostering this animal! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt Hi, my name is DeeDee. I am from Alabama. From the foster: DeeDee is very shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, her sweet personality shines through. It does take time, so she is looking for someone who is patient and able to help her decompress gradually. She is comfortable with just a few (1-2) steps down from the house—she’s still building confidence with full flights of stairs, and her future family can help her continue that journey at her own pace. She walks nicely on a leash and is learning to be brave when big trucks rumble by. She is great with cats and dogs. She likes gentle pets and belly rubs. Sweet, gentle, and incredibly easy to have around, DeeDee is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. From the Vet: DeeDee has successfully completed her heartworm treatment and she is finally ready for the remaining steps of her medical journey, namely, orthopedic surgery to repair bilateral ACL injuries. She had her first complete on 4/22 and will have her second done on 6/24 after which she will need about 6 weeks of activity restriction and mild physical therapy. After all is said and done, DeeDee will have spent the better part of 6 months being at a less than normal activity level. This means she would benefit from being in a home that can focus on a good weight loss/maintenance plan and slow return to peak physical fitness. With her arthritis and recent orthopedic surgery, she won't be an athlete anytime soon, but the hope would be to make sure she can remain lean and comfortable for many years!

Story
Oreo is a silly, gentle girl who loves zoomies in the yard and spending time with her people. This sweet 18-month old, 26# Lab/Beagle mix is the ideal companion and the perfect size to join a fun-loving family. Oreo is a kind, affectionate girl who bonds deeply with her people and loves with her entire heart. Her gentle personality shines through in the sweetest ways - always wanting to be included, curling up nearby while you work or soaking up sunshine after a good walk. She is easy and fun to have around. Oreo has a medium energy level and would thrive with a family that enjoys regular outings like neighborhood strolls or exploring new places together. Staying home is not for her! She deserves to be included in life’s adventures with her people. Besides getting out and about, she loves watching for critters and playing fetch in the yard. Oreo gets along beautifully with other dogs and is great with cats in her foster home. A canine sibling would be a bonus, though not a requirement. She is capable of climbing a 4' fence: if her new family has a fence, it must be at least 6'. She is also suited to a family that keeps their dogs safe on leash. Because she can be timid in new situations, she’d do best in a home with kids 12+. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night, is housebroken on a schedule, and is building confidence when left alone. She’s learning leash manners and would love obedience classes to bond with her family and gain faith in herself. Oreo came to rescue very pregnant and lovingly raised seven healthy puppies. Now that her mama duties are complete, it’s finally Oreo’s turn to be cared for, cherished, and adored. Is this gem of a pup the right fit for your home? APPLY to adopt her at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Oreo is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. Oreo's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. She is microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. She will be spayed when fully recovered from her puppies: likely in June. The cost of this procedure is included in her adoption fee. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Hi, my name is Callahan and I am from Missouri! Callahan is absolutely the best! He loves dogs and cats. He is afraid of men and will run away to avoid them. He is very shy, but loves women and once he gets used to you he'll be your best friend! So gentle and loving! He does good in his kennel and when left out. So considerate to both dogs and children with his approach. He absolutely adores my 5-year-old neighbor girl who loves him right back and comes to visit him daily. Callahan is up for a long walk or an afternoon of snuggles. Does great on the leash (no pulling) & enjoys walks. Fully potty trained, but has accidents when he is scared.Treat motivated and ready to learn new tricks. I cannot say enough about how perfect he will be for any family! I will miss his goofy personality, sweet puppy dog eyes, & evening snuggles.
