Story
Hello! My name is Boone and I have been at the shelter since 2024. I am considered a senior, but don't let that fool you- I can still get going when I want to! I love to play chase or fetch in the run, and my favorite thing of all is a walk. I do very well on the leash and have excellent manners. I know when it's time to settle down, though, and on those days you can find me stretched out (and snoring) on my nice bed. I can run and play when I want to get silly, but I am still older, and due to my age, I would like a home without younger kids. Maybe we could be retirement buddies? My favorite toys are squeaky balls and stuffed squeaky toys- although the stuffed squeaky toys never seem to last long around me. My favorite enrichment is the stuffed cardboard boxes and paper towel rolls. I have been to lots of events and places in my time here and am always a superstar. I love meeting people and do well in the car too. I'm ready to hop in one and ride away from here! I am very affectionate, too, I like belly rubs and like to lean against you. I am a "people person" and have never met a stranger! I'll get right in your lap and enjoy cuddles. When it comes to other dogs, though, I like things my way and I'm old enough that I've earned the right not to share! I don't like it when other dogs get in my personal space- after all, who likes a stranger in their face? I would like to have a place - and a person- that's all my own.

Story
Beagle Bailey is an adorable 5-year old male Beagle who was brought to the HSOV on March 22, 2026 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff after he was picked up on Poplar Street in Belpre Ohio. Bailey was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. This good-looking boy has a stunning chocolate brown/dark tan/white coat, brown freckles on his legs, a long tail, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked face with soulful brown eyes, a milk chocolate nose, a slender muzzle, and extra-large floppy ears which frame his face. These photos were taken on March 24, 2026 while Beagle Bailey was relaxing in his soft bed. This sweet boy was the perfect gentleman and posed like a 'pro' for his preliminary pictures that day. Bailey has a quiet/gentle, easygoing personality and appears to be good with the other dogs who are housed nearby. Beagle Bailey weighs 35 lbs and is the perfect size for a soulmate/companion to spend your days/nights with. Bailey was 'favoring' one of his back legs when he entered our shelter so it's possible he could have an injury to that leg. Bailey will be seen by a veterinarian if deemed necessary. Beagle Bailey was tested on March 25, 2026 ( SNAP 4Dx Plus Test Kit). The results were that he was negative for Heartworm, Ehrlichia and Anaplasma .. But that Bailey was positive for Lyme Disease and will be given treatment. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Beagle Bailey was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold (and posted on Facebook) so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for Bailey, so he is now available for foster/adoption. Update: Beagle Bailey went home with a foster family on April 17, 2026 who plans to adopt him after he is neutered. Beagle Bailey came back to our shelter on April 30, 2026 since the other dog in his foster home was jealous of Beagle Bailey .. And Beagle Bailey was chasing the family's indoor cat inside the house. So another lucky family will have an opportunity to foster- or foster-to-adopt Beagle Bailey. We've learned that Beagle Bailey is good with other dogs as well as children, but he is not good with cats. He is housetrained, will dig in the dirt when given the opportunity, and he may be a flight risk. Beagle Bailey is super friendly and LOVES his people friends.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi, my name is Piper. I was found as a stray and brought to the Olive Branch so my owner could find me. Sadly, nobody called looking for me. So, here I am in search of a new home. I am a very loving girl, who would make any one a wonderful companion. I play fetch, sit on command, and have pretty good leash manners. I would love to have an active home with someone who will take me for adventures like long walks and car rides. As much as I love to run and play, I do need a fenced yard.  I seem to get along well with other dogs, but I need to meet any other dog buddies you may have. I don't seem to mind cats either. I'm a very active girl, so older children would be better.  I have been spayed, combo tested (all negative), dewormed, vaccinated, and I'm up to date with my preventives. If you are looking for a new BFF, fill out the adoption application on this website.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 12, 2026, 8:22 am

Story
We have had Ruby for about 3 yrs. This sweet girl is a 7-9 y.o. beagle x terrier/sharpei(? - purple tongue and kinked tail) mix. She came from a coworker’s divorce situation and formerly lived with 2 other dogs and 3 cats. When we brought her home, she did not get along well with our established dogs, leading to a minor altercation, but she seemed to still like cats. Over the last 3 yrs, she has had multiple wetting accidents in the house, sometimes even in her sleep. We are shampooing spots at least 1x a week. She has been checked out by a few different vets who cannot find anything wrong with her after multiple urinalysis, ultrasounds, and examinations - leading them and us to believe that it is a behavioral issue. She is food motivated and possessive of her bowl and has recently started going after our blind indoor cat - unprovoked. I believe she would be best suited for an active younger person/couple with no other pets. Sadly, we just cannot give her what she needs anymore.
