Hello! My name is Boone and I have been at the shelter since 2024. I am considered a senior, but don't let that fool you- I can still get going when I want to! I love to play chase or fetch in the run, and my favorite thing of all is a walk. I do very well on the leash and have excellent manners. I know when it's time to settle down, though, and on those days you can find me stretched out (and snoring) on my nice bed. I can run and play when I want to get silly, but I am still older, and due to my age, I would like a home without younger kids. Maybe we could be retirement buddies? My favorite toys are squeaky balls and stuffed squeaky toys- although the stuffed squeaky toys never seem to last long around me. My favorite enrichment is the stuffed cardboard boxes and paper towel rolls. I have been to lots of events and places in my time here and am always a superstar. I love meeting people and do well in the car too. I'm ready to hop in one and ride away from here! I am very affectionate, too, I like belly rubs and like to lean against you. I am a "people person" and have never met a stranger! I'll get right in your lap and enjoy cuddles. When it comes to other dogs, though, I like things my way and I'm old enough that I've earned the right not to share! I don't like it when other dogs get in my personal space- after all, who likes a stranger in their face? I would like to have a place - and a person- that's all my own.

Available for adoption at: Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center 1854 East Pike, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 740-453-0273 Open Tues-F 11-5, Saturday 11-4, Sunday 10-3. Closed on Monday. Adoption fee is $130 which includes spay/neuter, combo, rabies, and bordetella vaccines, heartworm test and dog license. (Although some of the dogs come to the pound spayed or neutered, most do not. If you adopt a dog that has not yet been spayed/neutered, we will set up an appointment for the dog to be spayed/neutered before it can leave the facility.

Hello. This is my very sweet dog, Stella. She is a spayed, female Beagle. She is approximately 4 years old. She is a very anxious dog and often fearful, especially around men. I believe she has experienced trauma based on her anxiety and level of fear. She takes Trazadone and Gabapentin at night to help with anxiety, which is helpful. She showed up 2 years ago at my home in the country. I believe she was dumped. I have 2 small older dogs and 4 cats. She is great with the cats and 1 dog. However, she does not get along with 1 of my dogs. She has attacked her 3 times. She has done great with dogs while boarded. Trying ro find her a new home is incredibly difficult because I love her very much. However, I know its the right and compassionate decision. I think she would do best being the only dog in the home. She is very healthy but has idiopathic seizures, less than 1 per month. She is current on vaccinations, gets monthly flea, tick, and hw prevention, and regular veterinary care. TY.

Latte is an adorable 2-month old female Beagle mix who was brought to the HSOV on October 16th 2026 after she was found on Pleasant Ridge Road in the Marietta Ohio. This baby girl was much too young to have been taking an unsupervised outing. Latte's coat was soft/clean, and she appeared to been take care of since she was a healthy weight and very socialized. Latte was not wearing a collar, and she was not microchipped. This little sweetheart has a black-and-tan coat with a patch of white on her chest, white paws, a long tail, and a cute puppy face with hopeful, innocent eyes, tan eyebrows, a black/tan muzzle, and large floppy ears. Latte is the ultimate playgirl and is all about fun-and-games. She wants attention more than anything else in the world and is vocal/cries when she is lonely. Latte was given vaccinations and dewormer on October 16th. She weighed 10 lbs that day. Latte is enjoying out-of-cage time in our offices during the day so that she can interact with our staff for attention and playtime. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Latte was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold (and was also posted on our HSOV Facebook pages) so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Nobody has called or came looking for this little baby as of October 20th 2026, so she is available as a foster or foster-to-adopt with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

Sadly, nobody called looking for me. So, here I am in search of a new home. I am a very loving girl, who would make any one a wonderful companion. I play fetch, sit on command, and have pretty good leash manners. I would love to have an active home with someone who will take me for adventures like long walks and car rides. As much as I love to run and play, I do need a fenced yard.  I seem to get along well with other dogs, but I need to meet any other dog buddies you may have. I don't seem to mind cats either. I'm a very active girl, so older children would be better.  I have been spayed, combo tested (all negative), dewormed, vaccinated, and I'm up to date with my preventives.
