Story
Allow us to introduce you to COOKIE, a 3 year old mixed breed who came to our pound after being found on a local highway. COOKIE is the sweetest girl. Between her wonderful personality and her short legs, we think there may be some Beagle in the mix. COOKIE is quite the little lover. She is affectionate and the more love you give her, the more affectionate she becomes. Her biggest motivators are love and snacks (another reason we think there is a Beagle in there). When she has to go out, she whines. She's met a few kids and has been good with them. She doesn't seem to mind the other dogs at the pound. We don't know about cats. COOKIE has best friend potential because she's happy to do whatever you do. Want to go for a long walk? COOKIE is your girl. Want to nap all afternoon on the couch? COOKIE is your girl. Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH 43907 Hours: Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; Saturdays 9am-2pm; closed Sundays and holidays. Out of state adoptions are welcomed.Apply to adopt at the pound or online at harrisoncountydogpoundvolunteers.org. Story
Harley was found around 2 weeks ago starved and wandering around farm country. He is a very sweet dog and he does well with cats ( we have two female cats). He loves cuddles and loves taking naps. We have only had him for a short time and due to the winter storm he has not been able to have a vet appointment yet. My husband and I work long hours and are unable to meet his needs because of that. He is a very good loyal dog and it is very unfortunate that we are unable to permanently take him in. He loves going on walks and loves being outside. We truly wish for him to go to the best home possible.

Ace is 4 years old Born on October 10th He is very nice to humans, he loves attention He can be a little jumpy with some people but with the right training he can learn. Ace is a beagle, so he howls and has big ears. I would love Ace to be in a dog lover home. My schedule is getting rough and the older i got is taking a toll on me mentally to take care of him and other personal things.

Story
*Ms. Zuma loves to sleep in her spare time; Beware, as she does snore and tends to sleep so deeply that she will have body tremors. She prefers to be under the comforter in bed, but will settle for a seat on the couch close to you, while under a blanket of course. However, if desired she is trained to sleep in a kennel as well. *She’s been caught guarding food so she is used to being fed separate from other animals. *She wants to be a part of everything, rather the nosey neighbor, which has resulted in her getting into altercations with dogs that are dominant and/or Alpha, as they don’t take too kindly to her attempting to correct their behavior. Therefore, she would be best suited as the single dog of a home or with non-dominant/ non-Alpha dogs. *She loves children and has quite a bit of patience, as demonstrated while wearing various costumes. *Can be left alone approximately 6 hours before needing to go potty, unless water is limited, and can wait at least 9 hours.

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Bean. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 30 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound through no fault of my own and I am now looking for a loving family to join. I am a very sweet and happy girl. I love people and I get along well with other dogs. I was a house dog with my previous owner and I appear to be housebroken. I get along well with most of the other dogs I've met and I like to play. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.WARNING: CUTENESS OVER LOAD!  Cagney and Lacey are two sweet girls who are thriving together in foster care. They came to the pound as strays, and staff quickly noticed they did much better when housed together. Because of that, they may be bonded and are happiest side by side. Cagney is 18 lbs and Lacey is 16 lbs. They look like mini boxers. Both girls have been friendly with every human they’ve met so far. While they haven’t had direct exposure to children yet, they show very good potential with proper introductions. They also appear to have good potential with other dogs. Cagney and Lacey are still learning the basics of home life. They’re eager, attentive, and listen well when redirected, but they do need reminders—especially when it comes to jumping up to say hello. They are also learning proper leash manners and will benefit from continued consistency. A fenced yard would be ideal so these happy, energetic girls can run and play together. They are long legged little girls and will need a 4' or higher fence.  If you’re looking for two affectionate, fun-loving companions who already support and comfort one another, Cagney and Lacey might be the perfect addition to your family.     If interested, you can easily fill out an adoption application by clicking here:  adoption application For those viewing on Petfinder, if you are interested in adopting this animal please click on More About Rose's Rescue, you may fill out adoption application from there.
