Beagle Bailey is an adorable 5-year old male Beagle who was brought to the HSOV on March 22, 2026 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff after he was picked up on Poplar Street in Belpre Ohio. Bailey was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. This good-looking boy has a stunning chocolate brown/dark tan/white coat, brown freckles on his legs, a long tail, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked face with soulful brown eyes, a milk chocolate nose, a slender muzzle, and extra-large floppy ears which frame his face. These photos were taken on March 24, 2026 while Beagle Bailey was relaxing in his soft bed. This sweet boy was the perfect gentleman and posed like a 'pro' for his preliminary pictures that day. Bailey has a quiet/gentle, easygoing personality and appears to be good with the other dogs who are housed nearby. Beagle Bailey weighs 35 lbs and is the perfect size for a soulmate/companion to spend your days/nights with. Bailey was 'favoring' one of his back legs when he entered our shelter so it's possible he could have an injury to that leg. Bailey will be seen by a veterinarian if deemed necessary. Beagle Bailey was tested on March 25, 2026 ( SNAP 4Dx Plus Test Kit). The results were that he was negative for Heartworm, Ehrlichia and Anaplasma .. But that Bailey was positive for Lyme Disease and will be given treatment. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Beagle Bailey was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold (and posted on Facebook) so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for Bailey, so he is now available for foster/adoption.

Jelly is an adorable 2-year old male Beagle who was brought to the HSOV on November 18, 2025 by a Good Samaritan who had found him on County Road 4 in the Waterford Ohio area. Jelly was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. This handsome young man has a tricolor short smooth coat, a long tail, and a beautiful tan/white Beagle face with hopeful trusting eyes, a black button nose, and extra-large floppy ears. Jelly has the sweetest personality for which the Beagle breed is known for and so highly prized as a family pet. Jelly weighs 32 lbs. Happily for Jelly, a wonderful foster family offered him the hospitality of their home on November 20th so that he could enjoy a vacation over the Thanksgiving Holiday. They reported that Jelly (whom they gave him the cute name "Theo") was good with both small/large dogs and children .. And he also made friends with cats. Jelly LOVES toys and tends to collect them (smile). Jelly aka Theo was a perfect passenger in the family's car and did well on long car rides. Jelly returned to HSOV from his Thanksgiving vacation on December 3rd, and we're sure that he is still having sweet dreams of his awesome time with a real family in a nice home environment. These photos of Jelly were taken late in the afternoon on December 3rd when HSOV Volunteers Miley Kiggans and Braylee Buck spent time with him in the lobby and (much to Jelly's delight) showered him with attention and 'good boy' treats. Jelly was a joy to photograph while he turned on his Beagle charm and pranced around the lobby for a new adventure. Jelly loved jumping up on the sofa for a better view of several kitties in a nearby tower. Jelly will be neutered before being officially adopted. He could be fostered while awaiting that procedure with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application. Update: Jelly went home with a foster family on December 6, 2025 who plans to adopt him after he is neutered.

Sable is a cute 10-month old female Beagle mix who was surrendered by her owner on February 7, 2026. This little sweetheart has a black-and-brown coat with two small patches of white on her throat/chest, a long tail, and an adorable face with dark brown eyes, a tan mask, a black button nose, and large floppy ears. Sable has a sweet personality and was reported to be good with other dogs as well as children. Sable was given Drontal wormer on February 8th and was given vaccines on February 10th 2026. She weighed 25 lbs when she entered our shelter on February 9th. Sable was spayed on November 4, 2026 by her family's veterinarian and was also given rabies vaccine. We wish that all of the HSOV Dogs were as fortunate as Sable. Sable was adopted very quickly when a potential adopter visited our shelter and fell in love with Sable. She was adopted on February 10th and was happy that she was back in a loving home after just three days in our shelter.

Tootsie (In Foster to Adopt)

Tootsie is an adorable 4-year old female Beagle who was brought to the HSOV on December 29, 2025 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who picked her up on Anderson Road in the Fleming Ohio area after she wandered up to a compassionate family's home and tried in vain to locate her owner. This little sweetheart has a brown-and-black coat, a long tail, and a beautiful Beagle face with expressive brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and extra-large floppy ears which beg to be petted. Tootsie has the super sweet personality for which the Beagle breed is known and is prized as a family pet. Tootsie has a rounded belly (sigh) and will likely be hearing the patter of tiny feet and the soft cries of puppies in her future since we are fairly certain that she is pregnant. Tootsie weighs 29 lbs. These photos were taken shortly after her arrival on December 29th. The afternoon temperatures that day were chilly, so our HSOV kennel techs outfitted Tootsie with a warm black-and-white plaid jacket. Tootsie begged politely for attention from our Beagle-loving photographer who was already in love with this adorable dollbaby. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Tootsie was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody had called or came look for Tootsie as of January 2nd 2026. Update:Tootsie went home with a foster family on March 22, 2026 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.
