PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS BIO THOROUGHLY AS INFORMATION ON HOW TO APPLY IS CONTAINED IN THIS LISTING** For Adoption: Bria! Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process. Bria is a sweet 7-year-old, 41-pound Beagle mix who is finally getting the chance to enjoy life after spending years being overbred. Since coming into rescue, she has received the veterinary care she desperately needed. She has been spayed, had a much-needed dental, been treated for ear infections and a urinary tract infection, and had a mammary mass removed. Thankfully, the mass was benign. Now feeling better than ever, Bria is ready to leave her past behind and find the loving family she deserves. When Bria first arrived in foster care, she was extremely nervous and unsure of her surroundings. She has come a long way since then and continues to gain confidence every day. She can still be startled by sudden movements or loud noises and may retreat to a quiet spot until she feels comfortable again. Having a routine and the company of calm, confident dogs has helped her tremendously. She often looks to her foster dog siblings for reassurance. As a true hound, Bria loves following her nose. Whether she is in the yard or out on a walk, she is always investigating scents. Because of this, she will need a securely fenced yard and a family that understands her instincts. If something smells interesting enough, her nose will win every time. Bria would love a family where her people are hound lovers and know that hounds will follow their nose every time so have to be kept secure. Bria enjoys her daily walks and walks nicely on a leash. She loves taking her time to explore the world around her. She is especially interested in squirrels and rabbits, so her family will need to keep a firm hold on her leash when wildlife is nearby. She also travels very well in the car and settles quietly without a crate. Whether it is a quick trip or a longer drive, she is happy to come along. Although Bria is not fond of being crated, she will reluctantly go into her crate at mealtime, where she eats her meals and spends some time. It is best not to put blankets, towels, mats, or toys in her crate with her, as she will always shred them. Bria has made it clear that she prefers not to be in a crate, and she becomes stressed when confined, often drooling while crated. Over time, after learning the house rules, Bria has proven that she does not need to be crated and she can be trusted when left out of it. She will need to be crated in her new home initially tho until she feels secure and can be trusted. Bria is looking for a home where someone is home most of the time, so she only needs to be crated for short stints. She will need a detached home as she can bark when left in her crate as well. She is quiet as can be though when her people are home with her. One of the nicest things about Bria is how well she settles into a household routine. She is happy to find a comfortable place such as a dog bed or the corner of a couch to nap and watch what is going on around her. In the evenings, she puts herself to bed on a blanket on the couch in her foster's bedroom and sleeps quietly through the night. Bria is fully house-trained and clearly lets her family know when she needs to go outside. Once she understands what is expected of her, she is an easy dog to live with. As she has become more comfortable, Bria's playful side has started to emerge. She enjoys interacting with her foster dog siblings and can be quite entertaining. Beneath her shy exterior is a gentle, affectionate dog who simply needs time to trust. Bria currently lives with a dog-savvy foster cat and does very well. She is respectful and shows no inappropriate interest in the cat, so we think she could live successfully with a cat that is comfortable around dogs. Bria is gentle natured and a kind dog so would do well in a home with older children who are past the loud and boisterous stage. She requires a quiet and calm home where she can flourish. She doesnt enjoy a lot of activity or noises. Bria is looking for a patient and understanding family that will continue helping her build confidence at her own pace. A quieter home would be ideal for her. In return, you will gain a loyal companion and have the privilege of watching her continue to blossom. After years of giving so much, it is finally Bria's turn to be treasured. If you are looking for a sweet, gentle companion with soulful eyes, a playful side, and a nose that is always working, Bria may be the perfect addition to your family. Story
Tiny is a petite, sensitive soul who has clearly had to navigate a tough start in life. Because of that, she values her personal space and feels safest when interactions are calm, respectful, and on her terms. With other dogs, Tiny communicates clearly-she'll give a warning growl if another dog comes too close, and once her boundaries are respected, she's able to settle and relax. She's shown that with calm, non-reactive dogs who give her space, Tiny can decompress, sniff politely, and even lie down nearby. High-energy dogs that are still learning boundaries can make her feel stressed, so slow, thoughtful introductions are important for her success. While she may coexist with the right dog in an experienced home, Tiny would truly thrive as the only dog, where she can feel secure and never have to compete for space or resources.Tiny is learning that people can be trusted-and it's been beautiful to watch. She's formed a strong bond with her caregiver and now seeks out affection, even choosing to curl up and lay on them. She's also made gentle progress with children, cautiously approaching an older child and allowing petting-something she wouldn't have felt safe doing just a week ago.Her kennel is her safe haven, and she does very well in it. She keeps her space clean and shows all the signs that house training will come easily in a home environment. Tiny doesn't want chaos-she wants peace, consistency, and someone who understands that trust is earned, not rushed.Tiny would do best in a quiet, adult-only or older-child home, ideally as the only dog, with someone who can offer patience, structure, and love. In return, she'll give deep loyalty, quiet companionship, and the incredibly rewarding experience of watching a once-guarded heart fully open. Story
Miss Petunia's journey hasn't been an easy one. When she first arrived, she was battling multiple medical issues that left her uncomfortable, exhausted, and in need of a great deal of care. Through it all, she never gave up. Day by day, she fought her way back to health with quiet determination, showing everyone around her just how resilient and special she truly is. Today, Miss Petunia is a happy, loving girl who embraces life exactly as she is. Most of her fur has grown back, though she may always have a few uniquely bare spots that tell the story of everything she has overcome. Those little imperfections only make her more beautiful to the people who know and love her. Her ears deserve a special mention. When she shakes her head, they flap with such enthusiasm that it sounds like a tiny helicopter preparing for takeoff. It never fails to bring a smile to your face and has become one of her many charming trademarks. Miss Petunia is also a firm believer that mornings are meant to be enjoyed slowly. She loves her sleep and has perfected the art of taking her time. While others may rush through the day, Miss Petunia prefers a gentler pace and reminds us that not everything needs to happen right away. Like any proud Beagle, she has plenty to say. When she's excited, happy, or wants to share an opinion, she'll let out a howl that could rival a fire truck siren. It's all part of her personality and one of the many reasons she's impossible not to love. What truly makes Miss Petunia special, though, is the depth of her affection. Once she trusts you, she'll gently rest her head in your hand, close her eyes, and completely melt into your touch. Those quiet moments reveal the sweet soul behind her funny quirks and remind you just how grateful she is for love and kindness. She isn't demanding or clingy. Instead, she enjoys simply being near her people. Whether she's curled up nearby, following you from room to room, or stopping by for a brief cuddle before moving on to her next adventure, she finds comfort in being part of the family. Miss Petunia gets along well with other dogs and enjoys occasional play sessions, but she doesn't need a canine companion to be happy. She would do just as well soaking up all the love and attention as the only dog in the home. Miss Petunia isn't looking for perfection. She's looking for a family that will cherish her exactly as she is-a survivor with a heart full of love, a sense of humor all her own, and a gentle spirit that shines through every day. After everything she's overcome, she deserves a home where she can spend her golden years feeling safe, adored, and part of a family. If you're looking for a dog whose story is one of resilience, loyalty, and unconditional love, Miss Petunia may be the missing piece you've been searching for.
