Day after day, he survived completely on his own, listening to the rumble of passing trains while hoping someone would finally stop and notice him. Eventually, that day came. Cannoli was picked up and taken to the local police department before being transferred to a crowded high-kill shelter. But safety did not come easily for this sweet boy.
