FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** We would love to welcome Millie into the Fetch + Releash family on October 1st, 2023! In order for Millie to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take her home on her arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Millie / Female / 4yrs / 52lbs / Beagle Mix / Calm and Sweet / From Tennessee Millie, along with another dog we believe might be her pup, was discovered in a park by a kind lady and her two children. Millie displayed great calmness and sweetness around the kids, prompting the lady to ensure their safety by reaching out to our partner rescue. Millie and her companion had ventured from the park to a nearby field but when their rescuer arrived they readily approached the her and willingly hopped into her car. Millie is an easy-going dog who rarely barks, even in the midst of numerous barking dogs and curious cats that often come right up to her kennel. Her future family should be dedicated to helping her with fundamental training and beyond as her past remains a mystery. With her calm demeanor and lack of jumping tendencies, Millie would thrive in a household with dog-savvy children. She could also benefit from some weight management once she reaches Canada. Millie seems to have known the love of a caring home before and is eager to shower her new family with affection and loyalty. Millie tested positive for Ehrlichia which is a common tick-borne disease that stays in the bloodstream for many years. This has been treated, and moving forward regular yearly bloodwork would be recommended. Although this should not cause any issues moving forward, it's important that if Millie required surgery or a dental, pre-operative blood work (CBC+Platelet count) are completed beforehand. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Millie's adoption fee is $850. Story
This is Jelly she came to Speaking of Dogs at about 6-7 weeks old with her sister Bean. At first, she seemed like the quieter of the two girls but quickly it became clear she was very ill. Jelly unfortunately had parvo which is a contagious viral infection that often is fatal in young puppies. Speaking of Dogs was able to find treatment for Jelly and miraculously she survived. Even more miraculous her sister Bean never became ill. Thankfully, Jelly has no lasting effects of parvo and is a delightful puppy. Jelly has all the energy of a healthy puppy and potential adopters need to honest with themselves about the time and energy they can provide. Jelly is confident and outgoing and plays well with the 2 year old dog she is fostered with as well as the foster family's cousin's husky. Interactions with other dogs has also been positive. Housebreaking is a work in progress b/c of her parvo recovery but she has come a long way and is a clever pup. Jelly also lives with an old grumpy cat. When the cat met Jelly, she quickly showed her that grumpy cats should be avoided. The cat keeps to herself and when they meet Jelly is excited to see the cat but the cat controls how much interaction they have. Jelly lives with two girls that are 7 and 8 years old and has had experience and positive interactions meeting both adults and kids through her foster family's busy life. Jelly even went to a KOA with the family and handled the experience very well as she's proven to be quite the social girl. Jelly sleeps in a crate through the night. She is approximately 5 months old now and would make a wonderful loving addition to a puppy patient home. Jelly is fully vetted and spayed and is about 30 pounds at 5 months old. Story
My name is Mina, and I'm a 7-year-old female Beagle with a heart full of excitement and energy. Despite my age, I'm as lively as a puppy, always ready for adventures and fun times together. I've got a little story to share with you – once I even managed to jump over a fence that was taller than 2 meters! I'm quite sociable, adoring the company of people and other furry pals. However, I must confess that occasionally, when I'm in a certain mood, I've been known to nibble at strangers. But rest assured, I'm diligently refining my manners and learning to channel my exuberance appropriately. Going for walks is an absolute thrill for me because there's just so much to sniff and explore out there. I possess a less-than-ideal tendency to chase after cats, a behavior I'm trying to overcome since I haven't had much experience with them. Let's talk about food – I'm not ashamed to admit that I have a fondness for it, perhaps even a touch of greediness. I can be a bit possessive about treats, wanting to keep them all to myself whether they come from a person or other dogs. If you're ready for some outdoor adventures and exciting playtime, I'm here to steal your heart. With a little exercise and lots of love, I'm confident we'll become the best of companions. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIsLTtIpe3JzXPImJJO1RNukQuX3EuoUj

Story
Please read our adoption process and procedures on our website: https://www.taffyslegacy.com/sofie. Please read Sofie's full profile and needs before inquiring. Sofie (F) is a 5yo Bulldog X Beagle. She is currently living with her foster parents, two canine foster siblings and two cats! Sofie is house and crate trained. Moving to a new home, she may be whiny during the transition period, but with consistency she will get back to the well behaved girl that she is.  Sofie will sometimes bark and react at the cats when they walk by, but ignores them at other times.  Sofie loves being around her people and is quick to flop over for belly rubs when the attention is on her! Trying to get a photo? How about a belly rub instead! Sofie is ok meeting strangers, but prefer to calmly coexist and choose to approach them  rather than be the center of attention and have new people reach for her or tower over her.  Sofie is good with other dogs but does require proper introductions as she comes on a bit strong, just like any typical bulldog mix! She is small but isn't afraid to assert herself when she feels a case of the zoomies coming on! Sofie plays best with other high energy dogs who love to wrestle and holds her own with the bigger dogs! Sofie will sometimes ignore her cat siblings, but other times lunge at them. We feel she would do best in a home without feline friends.  Sofie has been to 3 dog sitters while in our care and has gotten along with the other dogs she meets quickly, but has been known to be intense around the cats. Our well traveled little girl loves to play hard and pass out to snuggle with new dogs, but does not like loud noises and will bark at things like honking horns, yelling or and things that could startle her. She is good on leash, but does relax better on quieter streets and is alert on the busy streets of Toronto! Her progress settling in her crate has translated to her babysitting homes, although she will sometimes whine for a yummy treat! Outdoors Sofie is pretty good on leash. She pulls a bit, but is learning to walk better on her transitional leash. She is mostly calm and ignores everything, but can react if a dog is reacting at her  - understandably! Sofie is also tense and fixates on fast-passing cars, and needs reminders to focus on her people. In the backyard she loves to play with her foster siblings and stuff her head in the snow! Backyard zoomies are the best! Sofie has growled and been tense around toys and food with her canine foster siblings, so she does best when given her space enjoying treats. She is a bit of an odd duck so her foster parents aren't quite she if she is tensing when they are near her toys, so they are exchanging toys for food at this time without issues. Sofie was surrendered for a bite incident that was declared resource guarding from her previous owner, and for this reason Sofie cannot go to a home with kids under 12.  Sofie is very food motivated and loves training! She came to us significantly overweight and is building a food drive getting her meals through training.  Does your foster dog have any unusual or funny quirks? "She is very food motivated and we suspect she was fed human food before as she's very under foot in the kitchen and stares at us while we're eating. She's very socially awkward with our female dog in particular. She spends an awkward amount of time slowly sniffing her and she is drooling while she does it. Sofie will sometimes lunge at moving vehicles and sometimes barks as she looks out the back door at nothing but just one or two barks. And she's a whiner but we're working on it! She also when we first got her and would walk her alone would stubbornly stop after about 15 minutes and try to pull backwards. She's over that now but she only gets walked with the other dogs right now so it could be a thing again if she was walked solo. She's now about to get through a 45 - 50 minute walk with our dogs with no issue and seems to enjoy trucking along. We've never seen her show signs of it being too tiring and she still gets home and likes to run around in the backyard before going in her crate after walks." This is what her foster parents have to say about her: "Sofie is a quirky, funny little girl. She can be a bit of a princess and despite being the smallest dog in our house she certainly has a big personality. She's very food motivated which helps with training, but she does need to lose a bit of weight right now so it's important not to fall for her puppy dog eyes and give her too many treats. She has really gotten into our routine of longer walks and seems to be enjoying over an hour total of walks a day. She also likes to zoom around the backyard at least a couple times a day. She's not a very snuggly dog but it's possible that would change if she was allowed on the couch! She is fairly independent and likes to do her own thing and play with her toys quietly. She's very sweet and we think she'd do well in most environments if she was provided with good structure and clear expectations!"
