Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal:Meet Blue - A Gentle Heart with Her Best FriendBlue is a 9-year-old beagle mix with a shy but tender spirit, and one thing is clear: she and her best friend, Foghorn, are inseparable. These two have been side by side through everything, and they need to find their forever home together. At first, Blue may seem timid, but give her a moment and her sweet, affectionate side shines through. Outdoors, she`s all about following her nose and exploring, but indoors she blossoms-excited to greet people and happy to soak up affection. She loves being close to those she trusts, and she finds her greatest comfort in Foghorn`s company. When they`re together, she`s braver, more relaxed, and visibly happier. Some of her favorite things include:- Long, sniff-filled walks- Quiet companionship and gentle affection- Time with Foghorn-her rock and closest friend- Meeting new people once she feels safe- Blue Would Do Best In a Home That Offers:- Gentle children, considered on a case-by-case basis- Patience and kindness to help her come out of her shell- A calm space for her and Foghorn to thrive together- A family who appreciates the loyalty and love of a bonded pairBlue has shown no signs of food guarding, is comfortable with handling, and does well around everyday sights and sounds. She`s still learning about toys, but her real joy comes from companionship-especially with Foghorn nearby.Blue is ready to bring warmth and loyalty into a loving home... just as long as she can bring Foghorn with her.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Blue is a timid girl who enjoyed socializing but tends to pulled on leash, more focused on exploring outside than engaging. Inside, she became excited to meet people and was comfortable with handling. She showed no signs of resource guarding over food but was reluctant to eat. She responded well to redirection and was stable around everyday objects, although she didn’t p

This 7-year-old beagle mix may come across as reserved at first, but once you get to know him, you’ll see the warm, steady companion he really is.Here’s the most important thing to know: **Foghorn is bonded to his very best friend, Blue, and they need to be adopted together.** These two are inseparable—they find comfort, confidence, and joy in each other’s company.Who is Foghorn? Foghorn is friendly, steady, and prefers quiet moments over constant attention. He enjoys being outdoors, sniffing his way through adventures, and—like any beagle—he’s not afraid to use his voice when something excites him. Indoors, though, he softens, settling into a calm presence alongside his buddy Blue. Some of his favorite things include:- Exploring on walks (with plenty of sniff breaks)- Tolerant handling, belly scratches on his terms- Time spent with Blue—his closest companion- Discovering toys once he’s comfortableFoghorn Would Do Best In a Home That Offers:- Gentle children, considered on a case-by-case basis- A calm environment where he and Blue can thrive together- Walks, outdoor time, and patience as he settles in- A family who understands that Foghorn shines brightest with Blue by his sideHe isn’t much of a toy fanatic and can be a little stoic at first—but with Blue near him, he feels more confident and open. He’s shown no signs of guarding food and has good manners overall, responding to “come” when called.Scroll through his photos and you’ll see his soulful eyes and sweet beagle face. This gentle boy deserves a home where he can finally relax—with Blue right next to him. After years of sticking together, Foghorn and Blue deserve a forever home where they never have to be apart.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Foghorn is a friendly yet stoic beagle who enjoys exploring the outdoors but is less

Story
Bailey has the face of a Beagle and the legs of a gazelle. He is trained to use a pet door and has been accident-free since arriving here. He's a sweet little boy that needs a family who will help boost his confidence. We think he's around 2 years old and he is healthy and ready to travel now. He seems to be afraid of men so a home with females or smaller quiet males would be best for him and another friendly dog would also help him feel more comfortable. If you're interested in welcoming Bailey or any of our Funny Farm friends into your home, please visit funnyfarmpets.org to learn more about our Tennessee-based rescue, the adoption process, the comprehensive vetting procedures these pets undergo before they come to your home, and to submit an adoption application. The adoption fee for this pet is $325, and an additional $200 is required for transport. Currently located in a foster home in Tennessee, this pet will be transported to a northern location after the adoption process is finalized. For details on meeting locations and the transport process, please visit the transport tab at funnyfarmpets.org

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.SaffronSaffron is #3 of our 10 'Spice Pups.' If we had to choose 1 word to describe her, it would be 'BUSY.' She is a typical sweet puppy- loads of fun and into everything. She will keep you on your toes! But she is also so incredibly loving and cuddly. She loves to be picked up and held and kissed. We dont know the breed of these puppies, they are all different, so there's probably more than 1 'daddy' involved. Mom is very mixed. However, Saffron looks suspiciously like a beagle baby with house big ears! She is one of the smaller of the litter, and will likely be around 40 lbs when grown, but this is just a guess based on her current size and build. She is precious and sweet and she is going to make a great addition to a family! She is good with kids, cats, and other dogs. Currently 8 weeks old at the time of this post, and weighs about 8 lbs. Saffron is located in Arkansas. She can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message us or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions. She is spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Please visit our Facebook page too! https://www.facebook.com/adoptastrayrescueorg For more info regarding adopting, email apps.aasr@gmail.com Thank you for considering one of our rescue babies!November 30, 2025, 4:32 pm

Story
Hi! I'm Dane, your future best friend. My days are filled with play and cuddles. I'm always ready for a game or a quiet evening by your side. My previous owner moved and left me to fend for myself, but luckily I was found and brought to the shelter where they are going to help me find my forever home. The shelter even treated my heartworms! I dream of a home where I can share all my love (and I have so much to give) and playful energy. Adopting me means endless fun and companionship. Let's start our adventure together!

Story
Meet Belle, a gentle soul with unshakable strength and a heart full of love. Belle’s story began behind a Piggly Wiggly in Camden, AL, where she lived alongside her friends Lizzie and Buster. Life there was harsh—food was scarce, danger was constant, and survival was never guaranteed. At some point, Belle suffered a broken hind leg that healed crooked, leaving a visible reminder of her struggles. But Belle never let her past slow her down. She walks, runs, and plays like any other dog, and the only thing she carries from her injury is her remarkable resilience. The leg doesn’t affect her daily life, though we keep an eye on it since the skin there is thin. What truly defines Belle is not her scar, but her sweet, gentle nature and her quiet determination to love and be loved. With her soft eyes and tender heart, Belle is ready for a forever home where she’ll be cherished for the survivor she is. If you’re looking for a companion who embodies grace, courage, and unconditional love, Belle is waiting to meet you.
