His case is comparatively mild with only some mobility limitations and he is otherwise healthy, happy, so cute, and very affectionate but also timid with strangers, larger dogs, vehicles, and new situations. TIME SENSITIVE! SPECIAL NEEDS! Trisha needs a home SOON! Remember Trisha? She came to us from a shelter a couple months ago. She was hit by a car about 6 months before being taken to the shelter but her owner didn't take her to the vet. We quickly learned that she is incontinent because the end of her spinal cord is severed. Trisha is happy, and playful and loves attention. She is not good with cats or any dog who seems dominant at all and may be most successful as an only pet. She loves people and would most likely be just fine with kids! Trisha would be happy and manageable in a home with a fenced yard for her to spend the day in. She could wear a diaper to come inside for family time and sleep in a crate at night. She will be more prone to urinary tract infections and will need regular medical care. We love Trisha and hope we can find someone else who will adore her and be able to manage her needs. Polo ended up in an over crowded shelter when someone just happened to "find" 22 beagle puppies and take them in as strays! Lucky for Polo, we have some beagle lovin' fosters and Polo was welcomed into our program. He is now around 14-16 weeks old and weighs just under 20 pounds. He's in a foster home with lots of other dogs and he enjoys romping, playing and being part of the pack. His favorite activity is spashing in his kiddie pool! How cute is that! He's in the process of being crate and housetrained but he's still a puppy and will need a structured schedule and training. He's 100% cutenes and fun and sure to bring tons of joy to his furEVER family! Polo is likely a beagle mix and will be medium sized when grown. We can't be sure. Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. Allicent came to us as a stray and just...left behind. How or why, we have no clue, but what we do know is that this is one special little lady!! She came to us fearful, but sweet as honey. According to her current foster mom, she has been making great progress! What foster mom has to say: She is very comfortable with people and solicits pets from us and from strangers! Her house manners have much improved and she is walking well on the leash. We have not spent much time on sit/stay/etc yet, as we've mostly been work on confidence building and how to "dog" and relax! Allicent is a great city hound! She is unbothered by loud noises, garbage trucks or other dogs. She loves to go on walks around the neighborhood. She became besties with our other dogs quickly and she gets along great with our cats. She now belongs to our neighborhood doggy play group and has learned how to enjoy life and play. Allicent has good house manners and is learning to heel, but that nose wants to explore! She is extremely sweet and is becoming more snuggly. I think she would do really well in a house with other dogs and cats. If that's not a ringing endorsement, we don't know what is! Not only is Allicent beautiful, snuggly & smart, but she's great with other animals and people, too! Call the shelter to set up a meet & greet with Allicent!
