Do you believe in beagles?....those funny, friendly, big mouthed, party all day players in a little package? Well, here is the ultimate beagle! Meet Colter! Colter is a young adult beagle who came from a hoarder who loved beagles just a little too much! (Yes, I guess it really possible to love these little angels just a little too much!) He weighs about about 20 pounds and with that poundage spreads both chaos and light. He is the friendliest boy you will likely ever meet. He loves everyone at adoption events and would wilingly go home with anyone who tried to abduct him. He loves to run around your yard, look out the windows, climb on the couch, roll around in blankets, lick your face and sleep in your bed. Colter is good on leash, very energetic, somewhat stressed when left alone and very stressed out when crated! Colter loves other dogs and children and is just fine with cats. He's cool with a turkey but a pig just blew his mind and scared the heck out of him! Colter knows what makes him happy (a fenced yard, a doggie playmate and no crates!) and that's just what we are going to find for him! If you are ready to embrace the joy of a beagle along with the quirks of training a beagle...we got your beagle! Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3 charitable rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, Va. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. HOSPICE HOME OR ADOPTER NEEDED! YOUR DONATIONS AT WORK! We are in search of a very special family to take care of our most special dog! Remember Holly? Holly came to us around Christmas time and was in dire need of our help. Her skin and ears healed but we soon found issues with her heart. Holly suffers from dilated cardiomyopathy and an irregular heartbeat. That means she is at high risk for a sudden cardiac event so it's too dangerous for her to be put under to spay. Holly is now on a heart medication (about $85 per month) to give her the most time and highest quality of life. She is happy, eating well and still gets the backyard zoomies! Holly loves people, other dogs and is good with cats! We are looking for a special family to care for Holly for the rest of her days. If you are local, we are happy to keep covering the costs of her vet care at her current vet! You just provide the love and comfort to an amazing dog who deserves it so much! (Holly's adoption fee is waived as an adopter would have to invest in her continued medical care.) Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3 charitable rescue. Story
Bailey has the face of a Beagle and the legs of a gazelle. He is trained to use a pet door and has been accident-free since arriving here. He's a sweet little boy that needs a family who will help boost his confidence. We think he's around 2 years old and he is healthy and ready to travel now. He seems to be afraid of men so a home with females or smaller quiet males would be best for him and another friendly dog would also help him feel more comfortable. If you're interested in welcoming Bailey or any of our Funny Farm friends into your home, please visit funnyfarmpets.org to learn more about our Tennessee-based rescue, the adoption process, the comprehensive vetting procedures these pets undergo before they come to your home, and to submit an adoption application. The adoption fee for this pet is $325, and an additional $200 is required for transport. Currently located in a foster home in Tennessee, this pet will be transported to a northern location after the adoption process is finalized. For details on meeting locations and the transport process, please visit the transport tab at funnyfarmpets.org

Story
MEET TURKEY! Turkey was found wandering alone, covered in ticks, with no one coming to look for him. He was underweight, anemic, and so shut down when he arrived at the vet that the world probably felt very small and very scary. But Turkey? Turkey never stopped trusting us. He didn't fight. He didn't bark or shut us out. He simply let us help him — quietly, gently, with the kind of patience that makes you wonder what he's been through and how he still has so much grace left to give. When we picked him up from the vet to head to his foster home, his tail was wagging. He rode calmly in the car, not a peep of protest — just a beagle boy ready to finally feel safe. And the moment he walked through the door of his foster home, he exhaled. Turkey is currently working through heartworm treatment and being treated for Lyme disease. He's still bony and building back his strength, but every day he's filling out a little more — in body and in spirit. Once he's fully healed, Turkey is going to make someone an extraordinary companion. We believe he'll be a true velcro dog — devoted, gentle, and deeply bonded to his people. He's already shown us who he is: a dog who chooses trust even when the world hasn't earned it yet. Turkey is not yet available for adoption while he completes treatment, but we'd love to hear from the right family. If you think you might be his person, reach out to us at info@dogsdeservebetter.org. Some dogs find you right when you need them. We think Turkey is that dog for someone. 🧡

Story
MEET PENELOPE! Summer is here, and so is this girl's GLOW UP! We are so incredibly proud of how far Penelope has come — she is ready for her forever home, and we are on a mission to find her one before she hits her one-year mark with us on June 17th! Penelope came to us from a tough situation, but you would absolutely never know it looking at her now. She is thriving in her foster home, soaking up all the love and comfort she deserves like the queen she is. Her foster has been capturing all her best moments in compilation videos, and honestly — you need to see them. This girl is something else. Penelope — affectionately known as Peepee — is a sweet, sassy, and totally loveable girl who has blossomed so much since coming into our care. She has fully embraced cozy indoor life (pillow forts and snuggles, yes please!), and her confidence just keeps growing every single day. She has warmed up beautifully and loves being around her people and her foster sister. Her leash skills have come SO far and are honestly impressive, but she's equally happy soaking up a sunny spot in the yard or assisting with gardening activities. She gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and would love a home with a canine bestie and a fenced-in yard to share. Patient, gentle, and completely heart-stealing — with those Dobby ears and panda eyes, Penelope has a way of making you fall in love without even trying. If you're interested, submit an application! This girl is ready to be someone's perfect dog. 🩷
