She loves to spend her days lounging on the couch, but also enjoys playing and exploring when she feels up to it. Her favorite thing to do is go on a walk where she can sniff everything to her heart's desire! Maybelle is an absolute sweetheart and loves to cuddle up to her favorite people. She has a funny, quirky personality and loves making her humans laugh. She loves other dogs and cats, too. She is looking for a home where she can live out her golden years in peace and comfort. She is a senior dog, but has a lot of spirit and energy. Great dog, needs more exercise and a different environment than we can give -- better for older kids; we live in a busy neighborhood with lots of young kids and he barks at every person that walks by -- we have had several complaints from neighbors, and he startles kids, but he is good with our own kids. Would do great in a space where he could run and have no one walking by - he is EASILY trained -- but we can not get him to stop barking outside, even for bathroom breaks. He rarely barks inside, house trained -- would really be such a WONDERFUL dog in a different environment! We will keep him as long as we think he is better off with us but if we found a better fit for him we would love him to have a better life! No separation anxiety. Crate trained but also good without it. Completely house broken. Doesn't chew but will occasionally try to snag a stuffed animal. Low energy -- doesn't take much to wear him out! No need to restrict food - he doesn't overeat and isn't food aggressive.

TIME SENSITIVE! SPECIAL NEEDS! Trisha needs a home SOON! Remember Trisha? She came to us from a shelter a couple months ago. She was hit by a car about 6 months before being taken to the shelter but her owner didn't take her to the vet. We quickly learned that she is incontinent because the end of her spinal cord is severed. Trisha is happy, and playful and loves attention. She is not good with cats or any dog who seems dominant at all and may be most successful as an only pet. She loves people and would most likely be just fine with kids! Trisha would be happy and manageable in a home with a fenced yard for her to spend the day in. She could wear a diaper to come inside for family time and sleep in a crate at night. She will be more prone to urinary tract infections and will need regular medical care. We love Trisha and hope we can find someone else who will adore her and be able to manage her needs. Elmer and his siblings came to our rescue when they were 1 day old. They are super adorable and fun and love life. They are all learning to use the doggie door and are working hard at mastering it. They love people and kids and every dog they meet. They will need a lot of love and patience conquering the art of using the bathroom outside on a constant basis. They are looking for a home preferable with people who have prior beagle experience or will do their due research on the breed. They will be available with a pre approved application and a scheduled meet and greet. Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
