Story
Introducing Toby, the delightful 6-year-old senior pup who's ready to find his forever home! Toby is a handsome, mature male dog with a heart full of love and a gentle temperament. This sweet boy enjoys spending time outdoors, where he can explore to his heart's content and follow his "Beagle" nose on exciting adventures. While Toby adores the company of his human friends, he also treasures his independence and delights in playing and wandering by himself. Whether he's chasing after a favorite toy or enjoying some solo exploration, Toby knows how to keep himself entertained. But don't let his love for independence fool you—Toby is also a loyal and devoted companion who will stick by your side through thick and thin. Toby will need to be in a home with a fenced yard. With his endearing personality and affectionate nature, Toby would make a wonderful addition to any family looking for a loving and devoted furry friend. He's neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and microchipped, ready to embark on his next chapter with a loving family by his side. 🐾 Ready to Adopt? Here's How! The first step in our adoption process is submitting an application through our website. Simply visit: https://www.hoovesandpaws.org/shelterluv.html, click on the pet’s photo to view their full bio, then click “Apply for Adoption” to get started. Please give us a few days to review your application. If approved, you’ll receive an email from adoptions@hoovesandpaws.org to schedule a meet and greet (including any necessary dog-to-dog introductions). If the meet and greet goes well and you’d like to move forward, we’ll schedule a home check—this means we’ll bring your new furry friend to your home ourselves. This helps ensure a smooth transition and gives your new pup a familiar face upon arrival. We’ll finalize the adoption at that time! Questions, comments, or concerns? Reach out to us anytime at adoptions@hoovesandpaws.org. We're here to help!

Story
Mama Mia is a fun-loving, energetic adult tricolor hound dog who is about 3 years old and 40 lbs. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative.  A social girl at heart, Mama Mia knows no strangers and wants to greet everyone who comes her way, young and old, with tail wags and full-body wiggles. She is practicing her manners and learning to sit for attention.  Mama Mia is active and loves to run and jump. She would make an excellent companion for anyone seeking a dog who wants to walk, run, or hike. She is good with other dogs and would enjoy a fellow doggy playmate.  The ideal adopter for Mama Mia would be someone patient who understands that indoor living is new to her. She responds well to positive reinforcement and learns quickly. With a little bit of training, this girl will provide a lifetime of love. Apply for Mama Mia today if you're looking for a girl who can match your pace on the running trail and on the couch for a TV marathon.  Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##2700142##

Story
🐾 Meet Detroit! Detroit may be an old man, but he still has plenty of love left to give. ❤️ This handsome senior Beagle is around 8 years old and 30 pounds, and he's looking for someone who will appreciate everything wonderful about an older dog. Detroit came to us after being picked up as a stray and transferred from Pittsylvania Animal Shelter in Southern Virginia. We don't know much about his life before rescue, but what we do know is that this sweet boy absolutely loves his people. Detroit is a professional cuddler who would happily spend his days curled up beside you under a cozy blanket. 🥰 In fact, blankets may be one of his greatest loves in life! He's a little awkward when it comes to other dogs, so Detroit would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home. And honestly, he's perfectly content to have all the attention for himself! At his age, Detroit isn't looking for a family who wants to run marathons with him. He's looking for someone who appreciates slow mornings, cozy blankets, cuddles, and having a sweet senior companion by their side. Detroit is currently undergoing treatment for Ehrlichia, but he is heartworm negative and otherwise ready to start his next chapter. ❤️ Detroit is: ✔️ Around 8 years old ✔️ Approximately 30 lbs ✔️ Beagle ✔️ Neutered ✔️ Fully vaccinated ✔️ Microchipped ✔️ Heartworm negative ✔️ Currently being treated for Ehrlichia 🐶 Would likely do best as the only dog 🛋️ Professional cuddler 🧸 Professional blanket enthusiast Senior dogs have so much love to give, and Detroit would love nothing more than to spend his golden years knowing what it's like to truly belong to someone. Could you be the person who gives this sweet old man the forever home he's been waiting for? ❤️🐾 📧 Questions? adoptions@hoovesandpaws.org 📝 Apply to adopt: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HPAW/Dog
