Alvin is a smart, energetic, cuddly hound – he’s also super handsome! He’s a very quick learner and is doing great with house manners. He goes to the door when he needs to go outside, sits nicely for treats, sleeps calmly in his crate overnight, and shares toys and plays nicely with his foster sisters. He loves to cuddle with people and other dogs. Overall, he is very quiet and saves his awesome hound bay for special occasions.

Meet Sookie! -Sookie is 15 years young and weighs about 20 lbs. We think she looks like a beagle mix. Sookie came to Canines & Kitties when her owner could no longer care for her. Sookie is new to Canines & Kitties Rescue so we are getting to know her, but so far her foster mom reports she is a very sweet and gentle girl who is calm and easygoing. She does well with the other dogs in her foster home and the previous owner reported she was good with children and cats too. Sookie is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Sookie's adoption fee is $300.00. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CK Rescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Snickerdoodle is about 3 years old and weighs about 20 lbs. We think she is a Beagle (just a guess). Snickerdoodle is a quiet, shy and timid girl who is learning what it means to live in a house as a companion. She is incredibly sweet but will need time to adjust when she goes to her forever home. She will need a patient adopter who will let her take the time to settle in and feel comfortable. Snickerdoodle takes cues from the resident dogs in her foster home and she learns from them so she will require another young confident and playful dog in her forever home. Snickerdoodle is not in a foster home with children, but we feel she would be ok with calm and respectful children 5 years and up. Snickerdoodle is doing well on her house training. She sleeps in her crate at night but does not like to be in a crate during the day. Snickerdoodle will do be in a home where someone is around a good portion of the day. Snickerdoodle is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   PJ is a 2-year-old Beagle with a heart as big as his floppy ears. He’s intelligent, quiet, cuddly, and friendly with everybody — dogs, cats, and humans of all ages…. He is very sweet and trusting, assumes every passing human is going to be his next best friend.  He is a fantastic leash walker, eager to great friends and neighbors and sniff all the things.  His favorite hobbies are burrowing in blankets, taking naps, dinnertime and occasionally zooming around the house like he just remembered he’s a dog.  He doesn’t bark (why bark when everybody is a friend?)   There’s no drama with PJ - just naps, love, and goofy blanket antics.  He has been recovering from heartworms in our foster home and we have had to keep him quiet and without much playtime, but we think that his favorite way to play is a simply running around a secure fenced in yard with his family and tug of war with his blankets or working on a dog treat puzzle.  He hasn’t shown interest in typical dog toys. PJ would be perfect for a multi-pet home (but maybe skip the toddlers unless you’re okay with him “helping” finish their snacks.)  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org.
