Story
Introducing, Jayde! Jayde is about 3 years old and 25 lbs. Sadly, her owner was elderly and had several dogs that she couldn’t properly care for. Jayne can be fearful in new situations due to the lack of socialization for most of her life. Knowing that Jayde would need time to decompress we sent her to an amazing foster home that would spoil her and help her learn that people aren’t scary. Her fosters said: “Sugar and spice and everything nice describes Jayde perfectly. She is as sweet as can be although a bit shy at first. She doesn’t have a mean or aggressive bone in her body. She loves to go for walks and be outside in her yard. She is crate trained but also makes a wonderful bed companion for those inclined to have their new BFF close by during the night. Jayde loves to play with other dogs and she would likely do best with a youngish sibling who likes to play. She is potty trained, people friendly and not overly vocal. Jayde is looking for that special person who has a warm heart and the patience to let her get comfortable in her new home. This girl is a sweetheart and is ready for her next excellent adventure.” Interested in learning more about Jayde? Apply at www.novapetsalive.org/adopt. Jayde is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, was given dewormer and monthly preventatives, and is microchipped.

Story
Meet Annie!  This beautiful girl was rescued as a stray along with her two puppies after showing up at a Good Samaritan’s home. The trio was brought to a local shelter, where her pups were quickly taken in by a partner rescue and have already found their forever homes. Now, it’s Annie’s turn for a happy ending! Annie has been settling into her North Carolina foster home for the past couple of weeks, living with two older dogs and frequently interacting with visiting grandkids. She’s a sweet, social, and well-adjusted pup; comfortable in a pack but confident enough to thrive as a solo dog, too. She respects the older dogs in the home but still loves to play, and her foster mom has been arranging regular playdates with a neighbor’s dog, which Annie adores. She’s an enthusiastic, active player who would do best with another playful pup, and while she can be vocal during play, she’s otherwise a quiet houseguest. We checked in with her foster mom, Cindy, for an update: “Annie is such a sweet soul and loves everyone, both people and dogs. She follows us around the house and is a great companion. She loves attention and will happily curl up on the couch with you or roll over for belly rubs. She’s calm inside unless there’s another dog to play with, and she settles in beautifully when it’s time to rest. She’s young but not hyper, doesn’t jump on guests, and while she may bark initially, she’s never aggressive. She just needs a minute to adjust, and then she’s rolling on her back to ask for belly rubs. Annie had a few accidents when she first arrived, but is now fully house-trained. She sleeps soundly through the night on a dog bed next to my mom, and we can leave her uncrated at night with the other dogs without any issues. She is crate-trained, and we do use the crate when we leave the house. She’s still a young pup who might get into mischief! We’ve been working on leash skills using an Easy Walk harness, and she’s getting better every day. She only vocalizes when she spots someone or another dog she wants to meet. Other than that, she rarely barks and doesn’t even join in when my dogs bark! Annie is around 30 lbs and is a little on the slim side, so we’re feeding her extra to help her fill out. We’re not entirely sure of her breed; she’s petite with long legs, a small face, and a white-tipped tail—maybe a little Beagle in there? She’s a perfect size and loves sunning on the deck, playing fetch and tug, and most of all, cuddling.” Ideal Home: Annie would thrive in an active home with owners who enjoy including their pup in daily life, whether that’s hiking, playing fetch in the backyard, or sun lounging on the deck. She’d love a canine playmate or regular playdates with dog friends. She’s the full package: affectionate, playful, house-trained, and a great companion. Ready to meet your new best friend? Annie is waiting! ***She will be coming to the DC metro area on 5/24. Story
This precious boy was picked up on the side of I-75. A sweet lady was doing 70 mph in the right lane when she spotted what looked like a dog with a red harness in the ditch. She quickly pulled over and carefully backed up. He initially dashed away from her, but then she was able to get him to her car. We have no idea where he came from. We searched social media for a couple of weeks in case somebody had had an accident and lost him but no luck. We call him Freeway, but his foster mom and hero calls him Dash. He is just a really good boy, loving people, other dogs, and is respectful of the mean kitty. He is house trained and loves to snuggle. He has definitely been through some sort of ordeal and we would love to get him in a quiet, safe home where he can be cherished. The vets think he’s about three years old. We will be getting him a dental when he gets neutered in the next week or so and then he will be ready for his new home. He is up-to-date on his vaccines and his heartworm tested negative. He’s a great size at 18 pounds. Dash would make a really wonderful companion for anyone. We think older children would be best for him. If you would like to give this sweet boy his forever home, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com. If you do not see a response right away, please check your spam folder.

Story
Meet Ellie, a super good girl with the cutest scruffy muzzle! She loves people, other dogs and, while she grew up in a household with a toddler, she is cautious at first with the little ones.  Once she figures them out, they get kisses, too! She has a wiggly waggly butt for everyone she meets. Ellie really enjoys interacting with other dogs and would do great in a household with another dog to play with as she is active and energetic. She is house trained, crate trained, knows basic commands (sit, come), walks great on leash, and at 40 pounds, she is the perfect size--not too big, not too small. Ellie will come with her crate, food, leashes, the works! Come meet this sweet, playful girl, you won’t regret it &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org May 15, 2025, 8:07 pm
