Meet Vance — A true head-turner with a heart as big as his paws! This 1-year-old neutered male Beauceron/Shepherd mix is a striking sight at 57 pounds and promises to be a magnificent adult when fully mature. He arrived at Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/6 as a stray and has charmed everyone with his happy, easy-going spirit. Vance is endlessly curious, exploring every inch of his surroundings with a wagging tail that rarely takes a break. He’s highly treat-motivated and shows off his eagerness by giving a little hop before sitting politely for his reward. Friendly, well-mannered, and affectionate, his gentle nature shines through in every interaction. This big-hearted boy may already be housetrained and can pull a bit on a leash with excitement. He hasn’t shown much interest in other dogs. Vance is searching for a rescue partner. His combination of intelligence, sweetness, and striking presence makes him an outstanding candidate for adoption or foster placement. Let’s work together to give Vance the second chance he deserves—he’s ready to thrive in a loving, attentive home!

Please meet Frankie... This four-month old pup is playful, sweet and smart! He loves his toys and is learning the art of house training (almost there!). He is also treat motivated, eager to please and has already learned the "sit" command. Such a good boy 💙 Frankie is fully vaccinated and will be neutered in about a month (included in his adoption fee if brought to our vet in Terrell). He currently weighs 19 pounds and is estimated to be a medium size dog when grown. Please remember that puppies need a lot of time, patience, positive reinforcement, training and love. Story
Violet is a love bug to her people but cautious of others until trust is built. She takes her role as her family's protector very seriously. She is thought to be a German Shepherd and Golden Retriever mix. She was born July 25, 2023, weighs 53 pounds, is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, HW negative and on preventative. She sleeps all night in her crate and is house trained.  Due to Violet's rough start in life she will need a family with patience, allowing her to bond in her own time by giving her love, positive reinforcement and remembering that it's a journey not a race. Once she gains your trust she's likely to cuddle like a baby with her people, play with her chew toys and will love going on walks. Her ideal home is one where the mom or dad work from home or part time and has a doggie friend to play with. She does okay with respectful cats, but does try to herd anything that moves faster than a walk whether it is other dogs, cats or humans both young and old. She sees any type of fowl as a chew toy so we recommend a home without pet birds or chickens. A fenced yard and vet reference are required. Watson was born July 1, 2024 to an abandoned dog. Best guess on his breed is Shepherd, Lab, Pittie, and SuperMutt! We've included a pic of his momma who is a black Shepherd. He's a handsome hunk who loves to flirt! He can be a little shy at first but has the sweetest temperament and warms up quickly. He loves playing with other dogs his size (not sure about the little ones) and loves zoomies! Although he would love a playmate, Watson would be fine as your only dog getting all of your love and attention and would do well in a home with respectful children and cats. Watson has had some obedience training, walks great on a leash and knows the basic commands. He is crate and house trained too! Because he is still young and would benefit from consistency and structure having an adult who is home more than away would be best. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, HW negative and on flea & HW preventatives. We adopt in the DFW area only (within an hour's drive from Terrell) as we deliver our pets to their new homes., A fenced yard and vet reference are required.
