Story
Meet Vance — A true head-turner with a heart as big as his paws! This 1-year-old neutered male Beauceron/Shepherd mix is a striking sight at 57 pounds and promises to be a magnificent adult when fully mature. He arrived at Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/6 as a stray and has charmed everyone with his happy, easy-going spirit. Vance is endlessly curious, exploring every inch of his surroundings with a wagging tail that rarely takes a break. He’s highly treat-motivated and shows off his eagerness by giving a little hop before sitting politely for his reward. Friendly, well-mannered, and affectionate, his gentle nature shines through in every interaction. This big-hearted boy may already be housetrained and can pull a bit on a leash with excitement. He hasn’t shown much interest in other dogs. Vance is searching for a rescue partner. His combination of intelligence, sweetness, and striking presence makes him an outstanding candidate for adoption or foster placement. Let’s work together to give Vance the second chance he deserves—he’s ready to thrive in a loving, attentive home!

Story
Simone has the most winsome personality! She is a mixed breed, 36 pounds, approx 9 months and came in on 6/12 as a stray. She will undoubtedly grow into those adorable oversized ears!?? She has a zest for living! Sweet girl walks nicely on a leash. She knows the sit command and will do so for treats. She is playful and likes toys and chasing balls. She is friendly and perfectly fine with being loved on. She has lots of puppy energy and enthusiasm. After she spent some time playing and chasing a tennis ball in the meet and greet room, she discovered the very soft doggy bed in the corner and settled in for a bit of a rest break! There is really so much to like about this sweet-tempered girl. She did arrive at the shelter with a wound on her back right leg. She has been to the vet and is being given antibiotics and wound care. Her foot that is healing does not slow her down at all, though it would be to her advantage to give that foot some rest to ensure better healing.

Story
Cookie is 1-2 year old Rottweiler/Lab mix that weighs 68 pounds. She was surrendered on 6/18 along with three other dogs due to the health of the owner. Her surrender form stated that she was an indoor dog and is housebroken. It also states that she gets along with children, dogs and cats. She’s very attractive with a glossy coat and a curly tail. It looks like she’s been well taken care of. She would explore the yard and then come back and either sit by me or stand and look over the wall. There was another dog walking outside the gate, and she became very excited. It was obvious she wanted to make friends. She’s very sociable, friendly, spunky, sweet and affectionate. She occasionally jumps on you but just occasionally. She walks okay on a leash. She did her business when she got out into the yard. She would love to get out and play outside or go for walks and then come in to spend family time with her new family.

Story
Meet Frasier! He is a 3yr old neutered male German Shepherd/Australian Kelpie mix that weighs 52lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/25 as a stray. You can’t help but stare as he is so very handsome! He most likely has lived outside for a while as he has some damage to his ear tips. No matter what he has been through he is still a calm, gentle, loving and well behaved boy. He walks very well on a leash, takes treats gently, and wants to stay close to his human companions. Its very clear to see how loyal and loving he will be to his future family. Out in the yard he enjoyed investigating all the smells, but looked back at me to know where I was. He didn’t show any interest in the other dogs barking at him, yet we do ask if you have another dog in the home please ask the shelter for a dog test. Frasier has a thick coat and was very patient while I brushed him. Having a secured yard to play in, then back inside where it is cool where he can enjoy his loved ones is what he longs for. He is truly a wonderful pup, and taking a look into his beautiful eyes, you will fall for him as we have.
