This handsome young man is quite attractive with his black and tan coat and has a big ole main of a tail that is simply breathtaking! Rocky is an adult who weighs about 60 lbs now, but is on the lean side for sure. Rocky is a big softie if we're being honest here. He might look the manly man but he loves people, is great with other dogs, and is eager to work and learn.  Rocky would love an active home and activities to help him continue to be fulfilled and find enrichment. He is a smarty pants, and being loyal absolutely goes without saying. Rocky has made friends with the other dogs and does well with them in his play groups. He's looking for his forever family willing to spend lots of time playing and working with him, to give him that sense of purpose he desires. Rocky just may be your  perfect match of a lifetime!   If you are interested in meeting Rocky please submit an application by clicking HERE.    Rocky's adoption fee of $450 covers his initial standard yearly vaccines, his neuter, his microchip and his first dose of flea and tick prevention.    Rocky is available for our Foster to Adopt (FTA) program.  We offer a 2-week adjustment period prior to finalizing the adoption to make sure he would be a good fit for the family.  We want to make sure everyone is happy. Story
A wonderful companion and adventure buddy! Hi there! My name is Wayne, and welcome to my world!  I’m a happy 1-year-old Belgian Malinois Mix, weighing in at 32 pounds. I was originally part of the TJ Shopping Cart crew, where I was transferred to a shelter in Rosarito.  Thankfully, I came into TAP’s care not long after that, and I’ve been loving life with my foster family ever since then!  I’ve already been neutered, and my health is in great shape (though I am missing a few parts of my ear due to being in a few scuffles on the streets). My foster mama says that I’m a loving and loyal boy who will become your shadow! After all, I’m curious by nature and want to be involved in everything you’re up to.  My favorite activities include snuggling, playing with other doggie friends, puzzles, taking walks, and sleeping on my human’s lap.  I’m a super high-energy kind of guy, so as long as I get enough physical activity and stimulation each day, I know I’ll be my best self.  As far as my training goes, I am fully potty-trained and leash-trained.  I am crate-trained, too, but I don’t like going in there too much when I’m left behind.  Another thing about me is that I’m super smart and a quick learner.  I’m eager to please and am highly food-motivated, too, so I think a little bit of training would go a long way! Finally, I do have the tendency to get nervous around new people, but just give me some time and space, and I’ll warm up in no time.  Given that I’m so active, I would thrive with an active family, and especially around another active doggie sibling.  I love to have company, so I’d prefer to not be left alone for too long during the day.  Kitties are an unknown for me, but I’ve been around kids aged 8-11 so far, and we’ve been great around each other. Do we sound like a match? Excellent! My adoption fee is $450 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/. ##1990350##

Scout, Justice and Freedom! Well, aside from the obvious name theme for a breed who often serve as military dogs, their rescue story also determined their names. This trio of siblings were rescued the last week of January when a rescuer happened to be driving on a dirt road while running errands. She and her husband noticed a very young pup on the side of the road wondering in/out of the bushes scared trying to figure out his way. They pulled over, coaxed him to them and checked things out. He was unharmed but very thin and flea infested. They looked around to see if he belonged to anyone or to see if there was an adult dog or other pups. Nothing was seen or heard so they had to go. Scout was  placed in the car  and fed (as rescuers they always have food in their car) and he ate voraciously and fell asleep until they were running errands and took him to a local vet for a quick check up. From there took him home. They decided to drive back to the same area the next day, double back as its typica to find more siblings and hopefully a parent that may need assistance and rescue as well. To their surprise they found 2 other pups, both females, first little Freedom and a few moments later Justice appeared. Both also visibly dirty and thin. They decided to drive around and a mile later found a property and realized they belonged to a home. Unfortunately, not a great home. Scout, Freedom and Justice belonged to a dog owner who actually owns both parents and both are Belgian Malinois. Its visible those dogs also needed assistance. Thankfully they relinquished the pups as its obvious they are struggling to feed the dogs and their property is not secured. Scout was very smart in leaving and seeking help, as the girls to follow.  The 3 pups are fostered in Ensenada, Mexico. As of 3/20 they are fostered by their rescuer and are healthy steadily gaining weight. They were approx. 7 weeks when rescued at 5 pounds each and as of 3/20 are now 12-15 pounds and like all Belgians will grow to be in the 45-55 pound range a nice medium size breed.  We are looking for adopters and fosters in san diego. These babies are INTELLIGENT at only 3.5mo their foster has taught them to sit, down and wait for eat. Scout learned the fastest, followed by freedom and justice. Scout and Freedom are approx. same size while justice is bit bigger. Between both girls Justice is the smartest and most focus to do something ei work or learn while Freedom is a tad more gentle and more about the cuddles ei freedom will sit for just a pet vs needing a treat reward. ALL 3 are very intelligent, social with both humans, dogs and cats since their foster has done an amazing job so far with them. They are young pups who need an adopter who will be enrolling in dog training classes, be active and make sure they are kept on both physical and environmental enrichments. DO NO ADOPT this breed if you have not thoroughly researched their needs. They need leaders who are also loving.  To adopt these cuties, please, submit an application for adoption online at arwob.org we will contact you to schedule a call to talk about the adoption process in the hopes we can move fwd with scheduling a meet and greet in the 92111 area to schedule their transport to san diego.  NOTE - The pups are not yet sterilized as we'd like to have it done in san diego and they are scheduled to be sterilized mid April in the north park area (92104 zip code) we are specifically looking for adopters local to san diego to ensure this appointment is kept.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. Story
How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Slate who is somewhat of a clean slate waiting to be shown what he needs to do to be a treasured part of your family. Slate did not attend Miss Manners charm school so he will need a dog savvy family to show him boundaries and good dog behaviors. We will show you how to use positive reinforcement to help Slate become the nice dog that he wants to be. He is a big guy who will learn faster in a more quiet home with a big fenced in yard. He will do best in a tranquil environment without a lot of chaos. He is a natural protector so if you show him how to be your good dog, he will be your very loyal companion. Already Slate has responded favorably to our staff who are helping him find his manners. Do you think you have the desire, skills, patience and space to continue Slate's development? Do you want a good watch dog who will protect and a good snuggler who will love. That's Slate. Want to know more? Come and ask to meet Slate. Big a strong leash. !
