Story
Meet Charmed! This approximately 2.5-year-old Belgian Malinois mix has known far too much sadness for such a young dog. Originally from Oklahoma, her life has been filled with constant change—never given the chance to simply feel safe. Charmed flinches at things most dogs take for granted—not because she’s difficult, but because no one ever taught her the world could be kind. She is timid with new people, uneasy around loud noises, and nervous when cars pass by. In her foster home, she has begun to make real progress and starting to learn how to be a dog again. She's dog- and cat-friendly, house-trained, and is wonderful on a leash—perfect for walks, hikes, or runs. She hates being crated, but she doesn't need to be, and is respectful in the home. Charmed’s ideal home is quiet, patient, and with someone with experience with active breeds. A 6' fence (she's an escape artist so can't be left unattended), a playful canine companion to wrestle with, and a routine she can count on. What she needs most is someone who sees the scared dog behind those intelligent, sweet eyes—and is willing to help her heal and provide gentle pets. She’s waiting for her final home in Windsor!

Story
Hi, I'm Zephyr. I'm about a year old Belgian Malinois. I was brought into the shelter system from a young age and have had a very sad start in life. I was taken in as a stray in NM after I likely had to fight for my life all for them to put me on the euth list. The Pet Association saved me and I made the journey here. I have never had a sense of security and have mostly ever only known fear. I will need someone very special in my life. I am still only a puppy and need lots of guidance. I would do well with an experienced owner, other pups to learn from, and someone with lots and lots of patience. I am a sweet boy and need a special person to show me what love is. Could that be you?

Hutla, smaller malinois mix, 48 lb, female, spayed, 1 yoHutla is a beautiful, sweet, waggy, happy girl. She looks like a very small shepherd, she is young, playful,  obedient and trainable.  She was abandoned in the fields and showed up one night at someone's farm with her mom Ursa. Needs to be guided with  patience gentleness as she is young and often acts puppy-like. She is loving and cuddly. She is rather friendly and submissive with the other dogs, but gets nervous at first and needs proper introduction. Better with the male dogs. Good on a leash. Needs a fenced yard with 6' fence. Adoption fee $325. If interested, please submit an adoption or foster application at http://www.sanNicolaDogRescue.com      March 30, 2025, 7:55 pm

Story
Ursa, 2-3 yo, malinois, 56 lb, spayed femaleUrsa showed up one night at someone's farm with her puppy Hutla, apparently abandoned. She is gorgeous, loyal, a lot of love and rather calm and cooperative. She is good with another friendly male dog and her puppy Hutla who used to hide under her at first. However malinois are more like shepherds and should be on a leash around stranger dogs. She needs a secure yard with 6' fence.
