She's a happy young puppy with a playful spirit, plenty of curiosity, and almost her entire life still ahead of her. Arya is good with other dogs and children, while her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. At six months old, Arya is moving into the adolescent stage of puppyhood. She's still learning about the world, developing her personality, and figuring out what is expected of her. This is a wonderful age for a family willing to put time into training, socialization, and building a strong relationship with their new dog. As a Belgian Shepherd mix, Arya may share traits commonly associated with shepherd breeds, including being intelligent, active, attentive, loyal, athletic, and eager to learn. These dogs often thrive when they're given both physical exercise and something to keep their minds busy. Arya would benefit from daily age-appropriate exercise, interactive toys, training games, positive socialization, and plenty of time with her people. As she grows, she'll likely enjoy having a family that includes her in walks, adventures, and everyday activities. She's a happy puppy now, and with consistent guidance, she has wonderful potential to grow into a confident and well-rounded adult companion. Puppy Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Arya is still a puppy, which means her new family should expect some puppy work. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best. Her adopter should be prepared to continue working on house training as needed, leash manners, basic commands, recall, appropriate chewing, calm greetings, household boundaries, and positive socialization. Because shepherd-type dogs can be intelligent and quick learners, Arya will benefit from training that keeps her engaged rather than simply tiring her out physically. Positive reinforcement, consistency, patience, and mental enrichment will help her learn what is expected of her. Arya should be allowed to adjust to her new family at her own pace. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Arya has already received a great start with her medical care. She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and has received NexGard. Her adopter will be responsible for continuing routine veterinary care, including wellness examinations, recommended vaccine boosters, ongoing flea/tick and parasite prevention, dental care, quality nutrition, nail care, and veterinary treatment whenever needed. Because Arya is only six months old and still developing physically, exercise should remain appropriate for her age and growth. Avoid excessive repetitive jumping, forced long-distance running, or other strenuous repetitive exercise while her body is still maturing. Her veterinarian can also review her vaccination records to determine whether any additional puppy boosters are needed.
