Story
Hi I`m Gracie! I am young and full of energy. I am looking for a home that will provide me with adequate exercise and mental stimulation. Without it I tend to escape the yard and find my own. I can be a rough player with other dogs and have knocked small children over due to my size so please be mindful of whether or not I would fit into your home. I have no experience with cats.

Story
Ursa, 2-3 yo, malinois, 56 lb, spayed femaleUrsa showed up one night at someone's farm with her puppy Hutla, apparently abandoned. She is gorgeous, loyal, a lot of love and rather calm and cooperative. She is good with another friendly male dog and her puppy Hutla who used to hide under her at first. However malinois are more like shepherds and should be on a leash around stranger dogs. She needs a secure yard with 6' fence. If interested, pleas submit an adoption application at  http://sannicoladogrescue.com    June 11, 2026, 6:08 pm

I was rescued from a Texas kill shelter by my foster mom. She came to adopt another dog but saw I was scheduled to be euthanized due to space and decided to bring me back to Colorado too!     I weigh 50 pounds and am working on gaining weight. When the shelter found me as a stray, I weighed only 30 pounds and was severely malnourished and dehydrated. I spent almost 4 months at the shelter.   I am a huge love bug- I prefer to sleep directly on top of you if I can. I am full of joy and energy. I love toys and could entertain myself for hours. I'm also very fond of fetch. I am a super-fast runner and would thrive living somewhere I could run.   I just started learning commands, but I am very intelligent and can already sit, shake, and sometimes come. I am still working on basic manners like counter surfing. I can occasionally be puppy destructive when left unattended, so I do best kenneled when home alone. I am a dog that thrives with activity and enrichment. I like to adventure and don't mind car rides!   Because of my traumatic background, I am still learning that people are safe. I bark and get quite scared when meeting new people. However, if you give me a few minutes and respect my boundaries (and give me treats!), I warm up quickly. Due to my background with food, I will occasionally resource guard with humans over my food and toys by growling- but have not seen this be a problem with other dogs.   I love other dogs and have improved on responding to their cues. At times, I can be a bit rough with my play, but I've gotten a lot better at taking breaks! The shelter said I don't mind cats, but my foster mom is not sure.    I currently have a leg injury. We don't know how I hurt my leg, but I have a vet appointment in a week to have it looked at. My foster mom set up a GoFundMe to help with any medical fees associated with my leg. I have a $100 adoption fee to ensure I go to a family who will really love me!    Although I've been through a lot, I have infinite love to give. Please give me a chance!   Thank you!!!!   Please call/text or email me. My email is kanderson14@winona.edu and my phone number is (612) 518-3121  June 18, 2026, 1:10 pm

Story
Meet Gracie Gracie’s life began on the streets of Mexico. She was taken in by a family with an unaltered German Shepherd, and soon after, Gracie had puppies. All of her pups were given away—except one, who was transferred to FRGSR with his mom - he has already been adopted! Now settling into her foster home, here’s what we’ve learned so far: Gracie has a bit of a prey drive—cats and chickens definitely caught her attention She’s not overly confident yet, but having another confident dog around helps her thrive. She’s gentle and sweet with her foster’s daughter, though she may do best in a home with older kids. At the end of the day, Gracie is truly the sweetest girl who just wants love 💛

Story
Meet Abuelito Male DOB: May 23, 2023 Weight: 50 pounds (medium) Breed: Belgian Malinois / Carolina Dog Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Abuelito is an incredibly loving, gentle soul with a tender personality and a heart full of affection. He is sweet, calm, and deeply people-oriented, enjoying companionship and closeness with those around him. He has the kind of soft, loving energy that makes everyone feel instantly comfortable. He also gets along beautifully with: Cats Dogs People Abuelito is described as extremely affectionate and very gentle, making him the kind of dog who simply wants love, connection, and a peaceful home where he can feel safe and included. As a Belgian Malinois / Carolina Dog mix, Abuelito may show traits such as intelligence, awareness, loyalty, and strong emotional bonds with his family. While Belgian Malinois mixes are often known for being active and intelligent, Abuelito appears to have a calmer, softer temperament that makes him especially endearing. Abuelito would thrive in a home that can provide: Daily companionship and affection Moderate exercise and walks Structure and consistency Inclusion as part of the family He would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, loyal, and emotionally connected dog. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Abuelito will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Continued socialization and engagement Patience during adjustment periods Routine and companionship Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Abuelito will need: Daily walks and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping him live a healthy and happy life. Abuelito is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
Tango is a 12-month-old male Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. He is smart, loyal, high-energy, and sweet with our family, but he needs more training, structure, exercise, and experienced handling than we can realistically provide. He is not neutered. He has started marking in the house and can be fearful/reactive with strangers at first, including loud barking. He will need a patient, confident adopter who understands working-breed dogs and is willing to give him time to settle in. Tango is not a low-energy beginner dog. He would likely do best with an experienced owner, a structured routine, secure fencing, and someone who can provide daily exercise and training. We want to find the right home where he can succeed.
