Story
Meet Opie!! Meet Opie! He was an owner who surrendered to a local shelter and needed rescue only because the stress of the shelter got to him. Opie is 4 yrs-old GS Malinois Dutch shepherd mix. Sadly he's lived a very confined neglected isolated sheltered life. In other words, he had lazy 💩 owners. As of 11/4, Opie is a sweet, gentle giant but reserved and timid. We have learned that allowing him to approach you on his time is best. 12/22 He loves his people once his trust is gained. Which takes 0 time and effort on the human part. 2/10 Everyone he has meets he has done awesome with. He is willing to try but does needs encouragement. He strives for guidance and needs consistency, routine, and simple daily exercise as well as structured discipline. He is a simple dog always wanting to please. But his confidence cannot be rushed instead when meeting any new folks he needs people to ignore him as if he's not present, do not approach, touch, talk to him or make eye contact and this alone makes meeting anyone easy and possible. 2/17 Opie thrives with companionship and desires physical and verbal acknowledgment from his people. He wants to belong and be part of his people every day life. No reactivity toward cats, or dogs, nor does he have any resource-guarding behaviors. He however is a follower and he needs constant guidance. Opie is good on a leash, still needs work but it's manageable. Very food and praise/affection motivated. 1/22 Opie is currently ongoing heartworm treatment and doing well. Opie is a dog that requires more than basic dog knowledge. He needs leadership and guidance and someone confident and in control at all times. To be continued: Opie is house and crate trained, neuteted, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, corona, 3-year rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Opie like every AHS dog comes with our lifetime support. Updated: 2/26/2023 We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets. Ludo is a sensitive Malinois/aussie mix who loves playing fetch, bopping around a soccer ball and running through training routines! Ludo has done well meeting other dogs, although he is something of a wallflower at first. Ludo would thrive in an active home with someone either experienced with high-energy working breeds or is ready for companion who loves to learn and practice his skills!

Story
Meet Gimli, a strikingly handsome 4-year-old German Shepherd weighing about 65 pounds. Like many GSDs, Gimli forms deep bonds with his person, and he’s finding it a bit challenging to adjust after being surrendered through no fault of his own. Now in a loving Misty Eyes foster home, he’s beginning his journey toward finding the one special person or family he can call his own.Gimli is a sensitive, somewhat anxious boy with mild separation anxiety, but with patience, consistency, and companionship, his confidence will continue to grow. Once he feels secure, he will reward his person with unwavering loyalty and devotion—everything this incredible breed is known for.He is crate-trained, has good house manners, and is not destructive in the home (though he may occasionally test the counters for snacks!). Gimli does well with older children and gets along with other dogs, and having both human and canine companions will help him feel more comfortable as he settles in.Gimli would thrive in a home familiar with the German Shepherd breed—one that can provide structure, mental stimulation, and ideally ongoing training to help him reach his full potential. With the right environment and a little time, Gimli is sure to blossom into an extraordinary companion. Story
Meet Sammy, a lovable Lab/Shepherd mix who`s almost four years old and tipping the scales at a solid 80 pounds of pure joy! This friendly and energetic boy has had quite the journey, arriving at Misty Eyes from an overcrowded shelter alongside his siblings. Although he was adopted as a puppy, life threw a curveball, and he found himself back in the care of our dedicated team—through no fault of his own! Now, in his foster home, Sammy is wagging his tail with delight as he polishes up his house manners, proving that practice makes paw-fect! Sammy adores going on walks and spending quality time with his foster family, ready to bring boundless happiness to a forever home. Although he is fine with most people, Sammy doesn`t appreciate other animals, so will need to be the only pet in the home. He would be a great fit for a country home with property where he can expend his energy. If you would like an active, loyal companion, please submit an adoption application for Sammy online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.
