Story
Tall, dark, handsome...beautiful brown hair, piercing eyes... You might think I'm a Channing Tatum or Ryan Reynolds type but, no, I'm a MOOSE! Unlike my cloven namesake, I'm not a big, scary protector. I'm a gentle giant, you might even say sensitive. I do great with other dogs, kids would be fun, and I'm learning to live with cats. I'm a little unsure at first, neutral once we've met. Continued, positive exposure and I'll be just fine with kitty friends! They'll do their cat thing, I'll do my moose thing. I am good in the crate, in the house, and in the car. I also know sit, down, place, heel, and come. I'll be a perfect gentleman for all of our adventures! Whether its hiking through the Yukon or just a pup cup run, I'm ready! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

I am good with other dogs, I need to have slow introductions and strong leader or I would do best in a single dog home...one great thing about me is...you don't have to trudge me to the dog park.... i prefer to be at home with YOU. I am good with cats too!! Now, if you know the Belgian Malinois breed you will know that exercising my body is good, but it just makes me stronger and have more stamina ;) So you have to ALSO exercise my brain- that is the way to wear me out ;) Doggy puzzles, wearing a weighted backpack, all kinds of ways to do that! Story
Meet Ranger, the intelligent and active Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and boundless energy. This handsome boy is a fast learner and has mastered essential commands like sit, down, wait, and shake. He's so clever that he tackled a level 3 puzzle on his first try! Ranger is a well-behaved and well-trained pup, making him a pleasure to have around the house. He's house trained, crate trained, and shows no signs of destructiveness indoors. However, he does experience some separation anxiety when his human leaves the house, which is why he's kept in his crate during errands. But don't worry, when he's playing in the backyard with his furry friend, he's perfectly content and doesn't exhibit any separation anxiety. Ranger is an active boy who loves going on walks, and he'll gladly accompany you on all your outdoor adventures. While Ranger is intelligent and affectionate, he can be barrier reactive, meaning he may react when he encounters certain barriers or boundaries. Patience and positive reinforcement training can help him overcome this behavior. This is very typical behavior for both breeds and he absolutely has to be adopted into a Mali/GSD knowledgeable family/ Ranger was in pretty rough shape when rescued and the vet initially thought he had an intestinal disease. Nothing was definitively diagnosed but the vet believes he has small intestinal issues. He is on a folate vitamin daily and will just need annual lab work and a high quality RAW FOOD diet. Ranger's charm and charisma shine through in the photos and videos provided, capturing his playful and loving nature. If you're looking for a smart, active, and affectionate companion, Ranger is the perfect match. Give him the love and care he deserves, and he'll reward you with loyalty and companionship like no other. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Belgian Malinois mix puppies You MUST have breed specific or similar breed experience Who understand the absolute intensity of these kids Their Mama is a purebred Mal and we suspect dad to be shepherd but don't know for sure. Please note We are always picky on our applications but this breed requires a different owner and we will be tenacious on that These puppies are high energy and with high intelligence. At just 5 wks old they were learning an obstacle course that the foster made inside the house to focus some mental energy. At 6 wks old they learned sit and what the treat bag meant so we've changed it up.  They are-Mouthy Smart Driven Intense And require homes that understand they are dogs and need very active homes, mental games and jobs to do. No chain link fences or you must have a plan. A chain link fence is just a game to them and they will climb it, maybe not right away but it won't take long until they do. You cannot be lax.. Story
- Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once they're in a home environment and have had time to decompress - Shy pup who may need extra time to warm up to new people and things; will likely open up in a home environment with patience and time and may prefer a calm, quiet home- Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for them (mature home recommended) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. HOW TO ADOPT: This pet is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this pet, please email fosterinquiry@arl-iowa.org.---- A cuddle bug who is always trying to climb into laps to get pets and hugs when her foster family is sitting down - she doesn't wait for an invitation! - Can be hesitant when meeting new people, but warms up quickly and becomes social and wiggly; don't be surprised if she crawls right into your lap - A goofy player who likes to bounce around the room- Loves food and treats- Has done well in the car - Her foster family said she loves to chew on things, including her dog stuffies, so they said it's best for her to have lots of dog-friendly chew toys and to keep some human items out of reach - Has had a good start on potty training in her foster home, but still has some accidents, so she'll need some help in her new home to get all the way there - Struggled with leash walking initially but has been making great strides in our care and has started walking next to her foster family if her leash is fairly short; will need continued work in her new home, and we've found that giving her time to make her own choices has been key in helping her feel comfortable walking on leash- Has done well with kids of all ages and has warmed up to the neighborhood kids in her foster home; will do best in a more mature home where everyone is old enough to assist her in confidence building and doing "normal dog" things - Has done well with the dogs in her foster home and would benefit from a like-minded, confident dog friend in her new home to help her continue to come out of her shell- We don't know her history with cats, but her foster family says she has paid no attention to cats she has passed on walksAll adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs.
