This handsome boy is a fast learner and has mastered essential commands like sit, down, wait, and shake. He's so clever that he tackled a level 3 puzzle on his first try! Ranger is a well-behaved and well-trained pup, making him a pleasure to have around the house. He's house trained, crate trained, and shows no signs of destructiveness indoors. However, he does experience some separation anxiety when his human leaves the house, which is why he's kept in his crate during errands. But don't worry, when he's playing in the backyard with his furry friend, he's perfectly content and doesn't exhibit any separation anxiety. Ranger is an active boy who loves going on walks, and he'll gladly accompany you on all your outdoor adventures. While Ranger is intelligent and affectionate, he can be barrier reactive, meaning he may react when he encounters certain barriers or boundaries. Patience and positive reinforcement training can help him overcome this behavior. This is very typical behavior for both breeds and he absolutely has to be adopted into a Mali/GSD knowledgeable family/ Ranger was in pretty rough shape when rescued and the vet initially thought he had an intestinal disease. Nothing was definitively diagnosed but the vet believes he has small intestinal issues. He is on a folate vitamin daily and will just need annual lab work and a high quality RAW FOOD diet. Ranger's charm and charisma shine through in the photos and videos provided, capturing his playful and loving nature. Norman is almost 5 years old and the absolute sweetest dog. He is *incredibly* ball-motivated and has a ton of energy, but he's also a people pleaser and calms down pretty easily once he's comfortable. Even on days when he doesn't get enough exercise, he has never been destructive and is fully house trained. While he is used to parents that work from home, he has no trouble with staying alone for long periods and is crate-trained. He needs a home without other dogs and would probably do better with older kids that can play with him. Norman is afraid of other dogs and has leash aggression, but he would rather play fetch than go for a walk anyway! He is a very good guard dog and won't let a stranger into the house unless you tell him they're okay - then he is very friendly and asks them to play with him. He would do best with an experienced dog owner and some yard.
