Story

I adopted Freya from a family earlier this year, waited the recommended 2-3 months before starting her Service Training for Veterans, and then was laid off from work. I have a new job, in a different state and cannot afford to keep her in hotels and kennels when I travel. She is not cuddly, due to her breed, but loves people for short intervals and then does her own thing - so low maintenance. As I did not have a fenced in yard for her to roam, I walk her twice/day for about 20-30 minutes each trip. She is very well crate trained so if you work all day she has never had an issue with my schedule. Thank you if you can take her as I am not able to afford to travel with her beginning November due to my travel schedule. p.s. she does not like cats and apparently was never socialized with other dogs either so I try to avoid them on walks except across the street visits.

Stella is a beautiful 10-month-old Belgian Shepherd/Black Mouth Cur mix, weighing around 45 pounds. She’s a super smart, energetic girl who is always ready for her next adventure! Stella loves zoomies, long walks, and trips to the dog park/doggy daycare. Fetch might still be a mystery to her, but she makes up for it by being an absolute champ at tug-of-war! Once she finally slows down, she turns into the sweetest, most cuddly pup who wants nothing more than to be close to her human. This bright girl is crate trained, housebroken, and a very quick learner. She’s still working on leash manners—mostly because she thinks you should walk as fast as she does! Stella rides great in the car and settles well once she’s had her play time. Stella hasn’t been fully tested with cats, as the cats in her foster home aren’t fans of dogs. She would do great with kids and could thrive as the only dog in the home, or with a confident, playful dog sibling. She would love a home with room to run or a human who enjoys staying active with her. Stella is a loving, joyful, silly girl who will bring so much happiness to the lucky family who chooses her. Storm was our "baby" up until we had kids. She is a sweet and protective girl. Unfortunately she does not do well with kids, and we have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. She has bit our 3 year old before. She goes potty on demand, "go potty", "go poopy". (She really does go poop, too). She gets VERY excited to see the people she loves most, and that's not just my husband and I. It extends to family and friends, so she doesn't only just focus on us. She gives her paw on demand, lays down "down", and "up" to jumping on surfaces... or you. And usually comes back when you let her out to potty with "here" or "storm here". She tends to be a little skittish, always has been from when we first got her at 12 weeks old. She hates bath time, but we found she does best if you're able to do it outside. She does resource guard, a bit.
