Story
Mackinaw Have you ever watched the TV show, “The Incredible Dr. Pol”? Well, my foster mom has been binge watching the show and trying to figure out a name for me and since the show is based in Michigan, she came up with my name, which is Mackinaw. It means ‘large turtle’ in the Ojibwa language, one of the Indian tribes in the area. I don’t think I look like a large turtle but whatever…. I am probably a Bernese Mountain Dog mix of some sort, and I am very loveable and sweet. I was found in the middle of the road and my foster mom was concerned that I was thrown from a car because I was not using my left rear leg as well as I was using the right one. But after some crate rest for a week and a visit to the vet to get an exam and some x-rays done, I am happy to say that nothing is broken and I am using my legs like I am supposed to now. Very good news! I will probably be a large medium or a small large size, if that makes sense. About 50-60 pounds or so. But since my breed is based on my handsomely good looks, it is hard to tell how big I will be when I grow up. And my breed is just a guess anyhow, only a DNA test will tell for sure, but I am 100% purebred lover boy. I was born about the third of November of 2025 and will be available for my new forever home after I get fixed in January 2026. Adoption fee in Texas is $250. Out of State adoption fee is $550 with transport and fuel surcharge.

Story
The Easy-Going Senior SoulMEET COOPER!   Life hasn’t always been kind to Cooper, but you’d never know it by the way he looks at you—with soft, trusting eyes full of gratitude. This gentle and beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog mix, approximately 6–7 years old, has endured neglect and hardship, yet he radiates warmth and kindness. Cooper’s journey to a better life began when he was rescued by Tara’s House from an outdoor kennel just prior to Christmas 2024 where he had spent nearly all of his life.   Cooper is a gentle soul who is just happy to be with you. He gets along beautifully with everyone and everything; dogs, cats, critters, and older kids who have been taught to respect dogs. All he asks for is a cozy spot to rest his head, a gentle hand to reassure him, and the time to slowly ease into an active routine. However, if you have the time for a bum scratch…he will happily accept! Completely housebroken, this boy is a gem who also puts himself to bed at night in his crate. He will greet you in the morning with the cutest happy tippy-tap dance and a wagging tail.   He is a calm, sweet-natured old soul who would make an easy transition into a home with a fenced-in yard (and a home with carpet or carpet runners would be especially appreciated by him, as he finds hard floors a little scary!)   Cooper is proof that resilience and love can transform a life. He is waiting to meet you with open paws and an open heart. Could you be the one to complete his journey? If you’re looking for an easy-going, loyal and loving companion, Cooper is waiting to meet you!   Cooper’s adoption donation fee is $400, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for him by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.October 23, 2025, 2:12 pm

Sheila is a little shy with people and still learning that humans can be pretty great. She spent her early life as a mama dog, raising pups instead of chasing tennis balls. Now it’s her turn to be loved, spoiled, and told she’s the prettiest girl in the world — which, by the way, she absolutely is.     Sheila gets along wonderfully with other dogs and finds comfort in canine company (she is in foster with two other dogs and would love a confident dog buddy to show her the ropes). She is still learning that people can be good, so is slow to warm up and prefers to have her own space to decompress.  She’s quiet, gentle, and just wants a calm, patient home where she can blossom at her own pace.  If you’ve got a soft voice, a big heart, and maybe a cozy couch with a dog-shaped dent waiting to be filled — Sheila is ready to start her happily-ever-after.  Apply today and meet this beauty in person!   While Sheila has made a lot of progress on leash with her foster mom, she currently still needs a fenced in area to go potty.  Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Meet Bumi.  This gorgeous boy is a Bernese Mountain Dog/Golden Retriever mix, also known as a Golden Mountain Dog. His original family purchased him from a breeder, but our vet believes they were allergic and unable to continue caring for him. Their loss is truly someone else’s gain because Bumi is an AWESOME dog. Bumi is being fostered by Ramya and her family, which includes a 10-year-old son, two large dogs, and three cats, and he does well with everyone. He loves kids and has been fantastic with their son and his friends. With dogs, he’s polite, adaptable, and reads the room well. He’s happy to play with the energetic pup, and respectful with the other dog who prefers space. He’s also good with cats (even though they’re still keeping their distance ). Bumi gets daily walks and has great leash manners; he even knows heel! He meets new people and dogs without issue and handles an active household with ease. Ramya describes him as playful, affectionate, and a total snuggler, but not pushy about attention. He also has excellent house manners: fully housetrained, crate-trained, and even chooses to nap in his crate on his own. Overall, Bumi is a big, sweet, happy-go-lucky boy who would make an amazing family dog.   NOTE: Bumi will be coming to town on 12/6 and is going to a foster-to-adopt home. We'll give his foster family a few weeks to assess his fit before we consider other adopters.   BEED ESTIMATE: Bernise Mountain Dog/Retriever Mix - Golden Mountain Dog GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 89 bs APPROXIMATE AGE: ~3.5 years old COAT TYPE:  Medium wavy coat ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: UTD on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION: Columbia, SC   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Story
We are a group of happy, playful puppies full of curiosity and joy! Our days are spent pouncing, wrestling, playing tug-of-war, and exploring every nook and corner of the house. Adventure is our favorite job, and we take it very seriously. Food is another one of our great loves! Any trip to the kitchen must mean mealtime, and we’re happy to let you know just how hungry we are—even if we just finished eating. We are great with other dogs and kids, making us wonderful additions to families of all sizes. Our mama is a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix, and our dad is a Catahoula Leopard Dog, which means we’re expected to grow into large, strong, and loyal companions. With our playful personalities and affectionate nature, we’re ready to grow up in loving forever homes that can keep up with our energy and big hearts. Could one of us be the perfect addition to your family? Local adoption fee is $250(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🤍❄️ Meet Artic — A Gentle Soul with Adventure in His Heart ❄️🤍 (11 Months • ~50 lbs • Male • Full-Time Best Boy) If loyalty had a face (and four paws), it would look a lot like Artic. This handsome 11-month-old, 50-pound sweetheart is the kind of dog who doesn’t just walk with you — he walks for you, always checking in, always nearby, always quietly making sure his person is okay. Artic is wonderfully balanced: playful when it’s time to have fun, calm and affectionate when the day winds down. He’s the dog who will happily explore the outdoors with you and then curl up close afterward like, “We did good today.” 🐾 Why Everyone Falls for Artic: • Excellent with other dogs — friendly, easygoing, and social • Walks beautifully on or off leash, naturally staying close (no wandering, no drama) • Loves the water — splashing, wading, and cooling off like a true nature pup • Affectionate and gentle, with a calm presence that just feels good to be around • Playful without being overwhelming, snuggly without being needy At the ranch, Artic’s favorite walks are the ones that head toward the river — where the pace slows, the water sparkles, and he gets to just be a happy dog. He’s not loud about his love, but it runs deep, and once you’re his person, you’re his whole world. Like his brother, Artic has spent far too much of his puppyhood in rescue, waiting patiently while life passed by. Despite that, he’s remained trusting, sweet, and hopeful — and now it’s time for him to finally experience the joy of a family, a home, and a forever spot on the couch. Artic would thrive with an outdoorsy person or family who values companionship, quiet loyalty, and shared adventures followed by cozy evenings in. If you’re looking for a dog who will choose you every single day — without hesitation… 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org — Artic is ready to go home. 🐾❄️
