DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Dude is 1yr/9mos old, weighs 90lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.   Dude is crated when his guardians are not around; he sleeps in his crate at night; he dislikes/fears sounds and 'unknown things'; he unfortunately doesn't do well during car rides, as he is anxious to point of making himself sick even with meds; and he knows 'sit', and 'paw'.  Dude's guardian adds:   :He is a huge cuddler and LOVES attention, but his anxiety makes him a wild card. He has been with us since 8 weeks old and has had high anxiety since day 1.  We hoped he would grow out of it and even got another dog to be his buddy and help him, aling with training, but he still has high anxiety.  He is not a mean or aggressive dog in general, but driven by anxiety, which makes him unpredictable.  He does not listen to soft sweet voices.  He really is a good dog and we are all broken hearted to make this decision.  He lets the kiddos hang all over him and super cuddly most of the time.  But while one of the kids was talking super excitedly and loud with arms waving around he startled him and he reacted.  Fortunately, the kiddo moved arm quick enough.  But that might not be the case next time." Dude's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him.  "We are worried that he will bite one of our kids or visitors (kids or adults) due to high anxiety when there is a lot going on.  He has been very close and we have been working on his anxiety with meds and behavior training, but we cannot risk their safety." Bite incident:  On 15 December 2023, in Ellicott City, Dude bit someone while in his crate; the bite broke the skin; animal control was not involved.  Dude's guardian explains:  "He had a stolen item in his crate that we did not know about, so when someone tried to give him love, he attacked trying to guard it." Dude's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "He is pretty healthy other than the anxiety.  We have him on supplements for his hips." Dude's guardian states the following regarding children:  Dude lives with 4 children, ages 4-10, but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating "He loves them, but they can make him anxious and he will herd/guard them sometimes". Dude's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Dude lives with another dog, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "He loves playing with other dogs and loves doggie daycare". Dude's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Dude lives with a cat, but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating "He's VERY curious, but our cat is not a fan.  I am not sure how he would do with a cat that was willing to accept his intentions". Dude's guardian describes him as: Very active Barks alot Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Dude's guardian describes his ideal future home:  "He would be great with a family with just adults (and hopefully other dogs).  He is so loving and playful, but he will need continued help with his anxiety.  He is trained for an electric fence, so he loves to play in the yard with us or his brother.  He would be great in a home with not much going on.  Although he is good with kids in general, I wouldn't recommend it due to the unpredictability.  Someone that can give him lots of attention and can be consistent and firm (with the way you say commands) with him." Story
Ivan is a 4 month old male bernese mountain dog/poodle mix who weighs 35 pounds. These puppies are as fun as they come and they are going to be wonderful new family members. Ivan loves to spend time outside looking for sticks and he has learned to play fetch as well. At his foster home, he is now almost fully house trained and is doing well with crate training too. Ivan loves to play with other dogs, is super smart and is easy to train. He does appear to shed, so would not be matches for families that have allergies. We estimated that they will be large sized dogs when they become full grown due to their current size at such a young age. Meet Sushi! Sushi is a 5 year old spayed female Bernese Mountain Dog/Standard Poodle who weighs 66.9 lbs. She was born at a breeding kennel and kept as a "pet," though she lived outside. The family decided it was best for her to be rehomed so she could live the life she deserves inside a home. We are grateful for the opportunity to keep Sushi safe and provide her with the chance at finding the devoted family she desperately deserves! Transitioning to living in a home versus roaming free on a farm has gone much smoother than we expected for this girl! She does enjoy being outside but seems content to be inside as well. She absolutely loves people and the attention they give her. In her world, strangers are non-existent! Sushi has gotten along well with other dogs but will need a home without cats. Training is off to a great start, and she seems eager to please. Her tail is in constant motion and her smile stretches from ear to ear. We cannot wait to find this sweet girl the devoted forever family she so desperately deserves... could that be yours??Help us continue to step up for dogs like Sushi and consider donating towards their medical care: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/all-4-paws-rescueInterested in adopting? Story
Jane is a 3 year old spayed female Bernese Mountain Dog who weighs 76.8 lbs. Jane was surrendered to All 4 Paws from a breeding kennel after she was no longer useful. This beautiful girl has been so brave while facing the changes around her. She craves affection from people, asking politely for pets and sitting on your foot when the opportunity arises. Things in the home are still new, but she is doing her best to be brave. Jane will need a low-key home with a family willing to guide her. She seems to have a curious nature, which is helping in her foster home. While timid, Jane loves getting pets from her foster family and sticking close to her people. Having other dogs around is what she is used to, so we'd like to find her a forever home with other dogs. Jane seems cat-friendly too! Jane will undoubtedly become a devoted companion for the family willing to give her a chance... could that be yours??Help us continue to step up for dogs like Jane and consider donating towards their medical care: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/all-4-paws-rescueInterested in adopting?
