Mookie came to me from a breeder that was terminally ill and has since passed. This breeder kept her dogs in an outdoor kennel facility that had concrete and pea gravel flooring. They were not house trained and possibly had never been in a home before. . Luckily Mookie is a very sweet and cuddly dog. She will need help walking on a leash and house training. She will need a crate to help her learn...Her adoption fee covers her vet fees and grooming. Thank you.

We review each application and do our absolute best in choosing a home that best suits each dog and his/her needs and personality. Hi!  I’m Rose but my foster Mom also calls me Rosie, Rosie Posie, Rosemarie and other silly things. My favorite things are soft beds, yummy food, treats and other dogs.  I like being out in the yard in the sun sniffing things and exploring. I’m usually very quiet but if my siblings start barking I will follow along. I don’t like storms and really loud noises…..it makes me nervous. I didn’t have a very good start in life and remembering it makes me sad so Foster Mom will explain.   Rose was a puppy mill Mom who was being disposed of because she was not “useful”anymore. Most likely because she developed a mammary tumor. Our vet removed it with great margins and she remains cancer free. She was terrified of people (who can blame her) and she did not understand stairs or outside or grass. Her comfort was found in dogs and that is still her comfort space. Rose has made great progress while in foster care but she still has fears of people. She will willingly take a treat from my hand and sleeps in bed with me but prefers to be as far away as possible.  She has learned to go upstairs but still will not go down. Part of the hesitation could be because her front legs are slightly shorter than her back legs and I believe she is afraid she will fall forward but she does need more training steps and leash work.  The ideal home for Rose is someone who understands and is patient with her fears and has the time and patience to continue to work with her.  Another dog in the household would be great but not a must. While a fence would be great it’s not a must as long as the forever home understands that she must be kept in a secure harness and collar on leash while outside. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet the Quartet of Cuteness!   Olaf, Bella, Nala, and Big Mac aka Max are all Bichon Frise / Maltese mixes.  They may be a mom, dad and two offspring but we aren't certain.  What we do know is they all came from the same home.  Their owner died and the family was unable to keep them.  Each one has a distinct personality:  Bella is described as an 'attention hog', while Nala is more laid back and will not seek attention, but if you are willing to give it she will happily accept it.  Big Mac aka Max seems more outgoing than Olaf, who prefers at this point to 'observe' his world.  All are said to be good with other dogs and children. All will need time to adjust to a new home and routine.  Even though they are said to be good with other dogs and children, they have only lived together, so all will need slow and proper introductions to children and other dogs.  We don't know how they are with cats.  They all need basic training, including potty training.  Vet appointments for needed vaccines and spay/neuter are being done soon.  Because of their breed, each will require ongoing grooming, an additional cost to consider. We know these littles won't be with us for long so if interested in adopting any of them please apply soon.     Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
