Story
Meet Winston! Winston is a sweet 5 year old Shih Tzu and Poodle mix weighing 14 pounds. This little guy has had a rough start — found as a matted and overgrown stray in Detroit, Winston was understandably shut down and fearful in the loud, overwhelming shelter environment. But now, in his foster home, he is making wonderful progress! At first meeting, Winston is very shy and unsure. He tends to warm up more quickly to quiet, patient women and does not always take too kindly to men so we are recommended a female-only home as he is much more of a "ladies man." Given time, Winston blossoms into a loving and affectionate companion who truly wants to connect. Winston walks nicely on a leash (no tethers please) and is crate-trained. He’s a relatively quiet boy who mostly barks only at unfamiliar faces (and men). He has done well cohabitating with other dogs and has no issues with cats. Because he’s not fond of high-energy environments, Winston would thrive best in a calm, adult-only home where he can feel safe and relaxed. This special boy will require regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and comfortable. Winston is looking for a patient and loving family who will give him the time and care he deserves — a family to call his forever. Could you be the one to open your heart and home to Winston? He’s ready to shower his forever family with love once he feels safe and secure.  If you’re looking for a devoted, gentle, and quiet companion, Winston is waiting to meet you! Winston is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedNeuteredADOPTION FEE: $350 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS. ##2588530##

Story
Meet Brownie — your new built-in best friend. Brownie is a joyful, affectionate little guy who’s ready to be someone’s whole world. If you’re looking for a dog who loves to snuggle as much as he loves to play, this sweet boy might be your perfect match. Brownie’s favorite place to be is curled up on a warm lap, soaking in all the love he can get. But the moment you toss a fluffy squeaky toy, he lights up — fetching it again and again with puppy enthusiasm. And yes… he gets the zoomies. The adorable “fly across the couch, bounce to a chair, and sprint back again” kind of zoomies that will make you laugh every single day. He’s young and eager to learn, and he’s already very close to mastering his house training and leash skills. He does well in his crate for short stretches, but mostly he just wants to be close to his person. If you work from home or love the idea of a constant little sidekick, Brownie will think he hit the jackpot. Brownie currently lives peacefully with three senior dogs and a senior cat. The cat is adept at avoiding him, but Brownie would not be recommended in a home with cats unless they were very dog saavy. He’d happily fit into a home with other calm pets — or soak up all the attention as your one and only. A quieter home with someone around most of the time (plus a fenced yard for playtime) would be his absolute dream. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bambi is an absolutely adorable young Shih Tzu.  At only 1-1/2 years old, she has been a momma two times over.  No more mom duties for this sweetpea!  It's now her time to be a pampered pooch!  Bambi is a spirited pup with just a touch of attitude!  Bambi puts on a 'tough girl' persona when she meets new people, growling and standoffish.  In reality, because she is so small and humans look like veritable giants to her, she just needs time to warm up to people she doesn't know, but once comfortable she looks forward to belly rubs and cuddles.  She also barks an alert at newcomers to the home, so probably isn't apartment appropriate.  Bambi enjoys walks and does pretty good on a leash.  She loves, loves, loves to play with the resident dogs in a never-ending game of chase and tumble.  All the resident dogs are small.  We noticed she is very afraid of big dogs.  She appears to be house trained and scratches at the door to let you know she has to go potty.      Bambi visited the veterinarian and was found to be in good overall health.  She received needed vaccinations and was microchipped.  She is scheduled for spay surgery in mid-January 2026.  Bambi will also need regular, ongoing grooming which is an additional cost that should be considered in her overall care.   Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
